Shiits about to get real

She's a peach
https://m.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/69920006.aspx I can't make it clicky. If it doesn't work it's titled CIO, I Don't Understand on 12 to 24months.

Re: Shiits about to get real

  • Yikes! If I didn't CIO I wouldn't have my amazing little sleeper now.

  • Sucks I'm such a coward. I hope she can teach me better :::eye roll:::
  • I saw that and rolled my eyes so hard I got a headache. We were struggling with bedtime and I got some awesome advice on CIO from the ladies on this board. Now my kid either points to her room or gets up and walks in when she's ready for bed. Boy do I feel like a failure of a parent. Oh and also a lazy one.

Exactly. Or my kid who is now trained to sleep in till 10am so that Mommy and Daddy can sleep. She goes down at 8pm and comes up at 10am. It's awesome. I would still be sleeping in the same bed as her if it wasn't for CIO.

Dam sister! I thought I was getting it done over here, but 10 am? What's your secret? Of course, this would not at all work on week days but I'd love a Sunday lie on til 10.

DH works from home and I SAHM so it works great. Rosie just sleeps and is not a morning person. However, we give up naps for 14 hours of sleep a night.

@Nana- When did your LO drop her naps?  DS sleeps from 7-8p until 9-10a and still naps for at least 2-3 hours during the day.  Today he took two naps for a total of 4 hours.  I know the he is a very high sleep needs child, and I'm thankful for it, but wondering when he is going to transition out of napping because he sleeps so much and so well at night.

  • I had a similar conversation with a IRL friend.  She didn't believe in cry it out.  I did not push it on her (her DS is a few months younger than DD). Anyway, I just told her what I did and how it worked for me.

She curiously reported back to me a few days later how great CIO was, weird....

    Wanna trade kids?

    Just kidding.

    Kinda.

Lol :)  Your kiddo is super cute but I'm kind of convinced I have the easiest baby ever.  I'm sure we're in for it with number two on the way!

  • Jealous of all you bishes that CIO worked for. 15 mins my azz, try 3 hours of blood curdling screaming and still the kid won't fall asleep, and if he does, he's up an hour later to do it all over again.

We also couldn't get it to work.  I get that it's effective for some, but it's definitely not a miracle cure for all ::cough::DS::cough::

  • I think sunny muffin was more dumb than OP.
"I'd just get a bigger bed a cosleep" also, WTF to having CIO in the same list as child sexual assault? Or did I misread that somehow?
  • I was wondering what that is

She completely stopped napping, even just a rare nap, at about 18 months. Before she would nap for about 2-3 hours a day and sleep about the same amount of time. She's kind of special though. She takes after my side of the family. Not a morning person.

  • But! If we had simply rocked and coslept, our children would all be perfect sleepers by 8 months.

I want to punch that other biitch in the face. I have a mom in A's play group that I'm pretty sure feels like same way (sleep training = abuse/neglect) and my blood boils every time she posts an anti-CIO article on FB.

    Super Angry

You didn't misread it, and also circ'ing is sexual assault. We didn't circ but I certainly don't feel that way.

But 60,000 other women agree! So it must be true...

I know I suck. I resorted to telling DS "no one is coming back in here to get you."

    Coming out of lurkdom...

This cracked me up. I'm pretty sure I gave DS a full lecture that included this line...because lectures are effective on 7mo olds Wink

I am worse. I told DS two months ago that I was leaving and walked out. I didn't realize until a few minutes later that he thought I was actually LEAVING, not just walking out of the room.

  • In following all of the month boards, she clearly didn't learn anything about how not to offend, oh, everyone.

  • We don't do CIO, my kids are both great sleepers (thought, the 4 month wakeful is fast approaching, I'll get back to you then).

  • I hate threads about sleep and sleep training and hearing that any child ever sleeps past 9 am and still takes naps.

AND people who get judgy about CIO and whatever.
