I'm high risk for pre-term labor & after DD was born (full term!!) I did talk to my doctor about how we wanted to get pregnant fairly close, she agreed to wait until it was closer to the one year mark. So now i'm kind of freaking out about all the risks of being pregnant before that 12-18 month mark. I guess i'm looking for some reassurance maybe some of your personal stories.
Re: Pre-term labor & risks of being preg before 12-18 month mark...
I was on strict bed rest with dd for pre term. She was born at 38 weeks and I was on meds until 36 weeks.
DS was a surprise and I had NO preterm labor issues. It was a very easy pregnancy. Each pregnancy is very different. Good luck.
Wow, really?! Thats fantastic
I had PTL on terb and bedrest from 24wks on with ds1. Since I ended up over due and a c/s with ds1, it wasn't as worrisome with ds2. DS1 and ds2 are 15 months apart. I still had tons of contractions with ds2 but I never dilated and wasn't put on terb. I wasn't allowed to exercise or have sex after 20wks though and I had to rest as much as one can with a little one. With ds3, it was the same - no exercise, sex and take it easy. I did end up in L&D at 34ks with contractions. I got 2 shots of terb and told to stay off my feet as much as I could. I had tons of contractions all the way up to my c/s. Again I never dilated as far as I know.
BFP1: DD1 born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence
DD was a preemie (35 weeks). I had a shortening/funneling cervix and ended up delivering due to pPROM.
I got pregnant with my DS when my DD was 7 months old. It was not "planned" per se; DD was an IVF/ICSI baby so I truly didn't think I could get pregnant without help. First month after I stopped nursing - bam - pregnant.
My pregnancy with DS was actually better. I was on a 17-P regimen and knew what to expect. I was induced at 39w4d and DS was perfectly healthy.
When I delivered my DD early I was given a "warning" too - but it was 6 months. Neither my OB or MFM (high risk) even batted an eyelash when I got pregnant so quickly. It was totally not an issue for either of them.

My perinatologist considers deliveries within 18 months of each other high risk.
My 1st and 2nd are 15.5 months apart- due dates were 16 months apart, but I had a repeat c/s at 38 weeks. My 2nd and 3rd will be about 20 months apart, so my repeat c/s will not be until 39 weeks (unless an unrelated issue changes that date).
