Replicating Pro Pics ?

Hello Ladies!

Happy Friday!

We took our pro holiday pics and wanted to scan and upload to Shutterfly so I can make some Christmas cards (Christmas cards at our photographer were WAY to expensive). :)

A friend told me that they will not let you upload and/or replicate professional photos. Is this true? Anyone ever experience this?

The photos do not have the photographers signature at the corner or anything.

-TIA

  • You're not supposed to, you're supposed to own the copyright. However, you can do it.

  • Ditto PP, you're really not supposed to.  That's why a lot of pro places will create photo cards for you, or you can buy the copyright from them.  Some pro pics are printed on special paper so that when you scan or copy them it will change the picture...like show a watermark or something.
  • I scanned ours and tried to print them at Walgreen?s, when I went to pick them up they told me they could not sell them to me because they were pro pix. Ours did not have the photographers name on them nor did they have any other markings to make them think they were pro pix. They said they could tell because of the lighting, the quality and the background (which was white or black). I had to get something signed from the photographer. I heard other places like Wal-Mart or Albertsons aren't so picky but I don't know about snap fish or any of the ones online.
