When to register?

When will you/do you register? Where did you register? Any must haves?

We weren't planning on registering until after the new year, but several people are asking about our registry and I don't know if it wouldn't be better to go ahead and do it now and get it out of the way.

Thoughts?

Re: When to register?

  • Only because of christmas and I know people are planning on giving us baby relates gear for Christmas, we startes registering last night. We are registering last two stores and want to space them out we went to buy buy baby last night..left so overwhelmed but have them done for the holidays.
So if people are already asking you about it, I'd register soon. They are probably wanting ideas for Christmas gifts :

  • I won't be registering with this LO, but when I was pregnant with my DD I registered at Babies R Us and Amazon.com. I knew some people would want a store to go to, but that it would be easier for others to have things shipped and prices were better on Amazon.

I started my registry around 16 weeks and finished around 21 weeks, so I don't think it's too early for you.

  • I'm planning on registering before Christmas because I know my MIL will want to get us baby related stuff as a gift.
  • I say go for it whenever, especially with the holidays coming up.  It doesn't have to be complete but if you have even a few things you know you want already, put them on a registry so people can shop if they like.

  • I have one started on Amazon and Target, but they are both private, just so i can save ideas. Still need to check out our Toys R Us. If people are asking, I would go ahead and do it. I would, however, update it closer to when you have a shower. A lot of times, clothes won't still be in the store from when you registered, especially at Target.
  • I agree with everyone I would do the basics. This.have that really don't change or upgrade year to year.. keep it simple and you can change mind on products you chose at the beginning of the year if ur so compeled or continue what you started. Then it won't seem to be such a big task.
Babys r us have a list you can follow along with. It's broken down into two main catagories must have n wants. And when you cclick on the list below each beings you to the site per catagory. Very cool.
    Best of luck

  • We started our Babies R Us registry last night, and I've been working on one on Amazon for awhile.  I'm a planner, but also, we did it early because of Christmas.  Even if things go out of stock or they start making new versions of something, if I'm anything like I was with our wedding registries, I'll be super OCD about them and check them and update them all the time.

  • I already started it -- it is a work in progress every day, but the majority of the bigger stuff is on there.  I haven't really told anybody about it yet, but I wanted to start t oget organized.  I just did it online though, not in the store.  I registered at Target.

  • We registered last week when we found out what we were having. Well, we started our registry, but we didnt have the energy to make it all the way through BBB! So the past few nights, i have been adding to it online. I have used ideas from this board, from Lucies List, and recommendations from friends to complete my registry.

We also did our 'early' because my parents always ask us for our 'Christmas List' (like we are 8 years old). We dont want anything for ourselves (except a new camera to take pics of LO), so we will just direct them to the registry.

We registered at Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us. I like BBB better, but i know Babies R Us is usually more convenient for others, as they have so many stores.
