Done (forever) with the cake pops

Here is what I was going for...

This is what I came up with.

The chocolate melt was a total b!tch.  It was too thick (so I heated it up more), I lost balls in the melt, which resulted in the melt having tons of crumbs, it is totally uneven and looks like sh!t.  Oh well.  Luckily, this is a couples shower, and our friends will be drinking heavily and won't care.

    The thing about cake balls is they suck...especially if you haven't made them before.  Those who say differently are liars. The other thing about cake balls is that they almost always taste amazing!! SO good job to you!!

    So very true. Everytime I make cakeballs I swear I will never make them again. Suck is a nice way of saying cakeballs are a ***.

    The first time I made them I had a few fall into the chocolate.  I keep them in the freezer and pull only a few out at a time to dip now.

    They are a PITA, but I think you did a good job.  The melts are a little thick, sorry I dip mine then I tap it on the rim of my glass while swirling it.  This makes the excess come off.  I like the melts though because I don't have to double dip them.

    I'm sorry if I led you on saying they were easy.  I guess I was trying to say that Diva's can cook lady's recipe was easy.

    They were challenging, and definitely humbling!  Thanks, Penny, but I wanted smooth balls, not misshapen bumpy balls.  The Divas recipe totally looked easy, and in theory these should be.  Oh well, now I know more about balls.

    Kujay, I'll be hitting that wine tonight, I can't wait!

    :-)Cake pops kicked my butt the first time I did them too. I found adding crisco to the chocolate melt made it a bajillion times easier to work with.

    Just put some clear treat bags around them and tie them with a bow and they'll look gorgeous. I have never tasted a bad cake pop! :D

    They may not look the same as the pics, but you did a good job decorating them, lumpy balls and all.  Hopefully your balls taste great.

    You guys crack me up!! Thank you for making me laugh, I appreciate it.  It was a fun party, I had to go home early to put C to bed.  A couple of the balls were gone, but by the time DH got off work and swang by to say hi, he said that they were almost all gone and all the drunks were diggin' them :-)  Oh, one of my friends made them as well, and hers were really mushy.  At least mine had good texture :-)
