Hello! I've been kind of MIA since the hurricane and this week's storm. First, we were out of power for 5 days, part of which we left town to escape, and then after we returned, my parents came to stay with us to watch the boys while our nanny's on vacation (lucky her, she missed most of the storm's aftermath!). So, I've been busy at home and catching up at work, and barely had a chance to lurk here, yet alone pop-in! At least we were lucky, as we didn't have any damage from either storm.
Our town has postponed trick-or-treating until this Saturday, and I'm so ready for Halloween to be over so I can start getting excited about the real holidays! I will also be elated when M's football is over, because with three 2-hour practices a week and games on Sundays, it's taking over our life, but they are in the playoffs now and only a loss will end their season before mid-December (they have been undefeated all season) so it's getting tougher and tougher to hope for that!
Still, I love the holidays, winter, and all it comes with, so I was thrilled with the snow storm. Although J saw some snow in March, this was his first full experience, and he's entranced. I'm so happy my boys love the snow! J already has skis and ski boots, and I'm raring to take him out. M is already bemoaning that his football quarterfinals are keeping him from going snowboarding with his cousin!
In my excitement, I just ordered an ornament to commemorate J's first Christmas home. I wanted to share https://www.calliopedesigns.com/ for anyone interested. I used them for M's first ornament, too, and it turned out really cute. They are very customizable and you can personalize them with sayings like "First Christmas Home!" or "Adopted in Love." They have lots of others, too, including some that work great for international adoption, complete with a plane you can personalize with something like "Korean Air." Now I have to stop myself, because if the other poster sounds like a mixbook ad, I must sound like I work for this website. I don't! I just love their stuff, and know that it's not all obvious from their homepage how perfectly they can work for adoptive families, so I wanted to give a few examples.
I just bought this one https://www.calliopedesigns.com/penguins-4-with-a-plaque-clay-dough-ornament-1714.html, and personalized it with "Welcoming J Home!" because's "J's First Christmas Home!" was too long to fit on the sign.
Re: Hi! & cute adoption ornaments
How cute! I love ornaments and I am so ready for the holidays.
And I'm super jealous of the snow! We don't really get much of that down here, unfortunately.
Awww, the ornaments are so cute!! What a great keepsake, especially as the boys grow older.
