Hi all! I have a question that I was hoping someone else might have an answer to or advice??
I had a miscarriage Sept. 16 (I was only 6 weeks pregnant) and my husband and I are ttc again. I had my period on October 20th and I bought the cheap ovulation test strips (it was a 50 pack) and began testing the day my period ended. My cycle is usually 34 days (and seemed to go back to normal after the miscarriage) and I am now on CD 22 with still negative OPKs...but on CD 14 I had TONS of EWCM (for over a week!).
Since I had so many OPKs, I was/am testing 3 times a day (I know they say to test twice because you might miss it and I am just double check with the third one...hehe). Anywho, I just don't understand how I could have had so much EWCM and be almost over my ovulation period for my cycle length and still be getting negative OPKs...
Has this ever happened to anyone?
Thank you!!
Re: Ovulation Question??
Many ladies get EWCM at multiple times through out their cycle. While it can mean you are about to O or are Oing, it is by no means an exact science. Even though your cycles are generally 34 days, you can always have an off cycle where you O later than usual. There is no set in stone day or time frame when you must ovulate, so you aren't necessarily passed your ovulation period.
If you're testing three times a day it's doubtful that you missed your surge. I would say you haven't Od yet. Now granted my cycles are insane and I hadn't Od in almost a year, but I just Od on CD34 this month and last year when I Od, it was only CD85 or something like that. Keep testing, and you might want to think about charting your temps if this cycle is a bust. OPKs are great for alerting you about O, but only temping can confirm that you did O. Also I'm very sorry about your loss, good luck!

First off, sorry for your loss.
Second, sounds like you're just having a whacky cycle. I'm on CD 48 and I've always been a 28-29 cycle girl. While super helpful, I've also found out OPKs are not 100% reliable source that you've ovulated either. Way back in early October I got + OPKs but apparently never ovulated. I started charting late this cycle and I think I caught ovulation. But we will see! I would suggest charting, because it's truly the only way you're going to know. I've had EWCM off and on this entire cycle, too.

I'm sorry for your loss.
This used to happen to me a lot. I'd get EWCM then it would go away, then it might even happen again and go away, and then I'd get it again and actually see a temperature change and ovulate, potentially very late (after CD 22). You could try temping and then you'd know for sure.
