ok 6 month appt yesterday...

DS had his 6 month appointment yesterday, and it went alright... he is healthy and happy, so that is a plus, but I have had a lot of issues with him spitting up in the last few months, like, projectile vomiting, not just spit up anymore. Well, I called the pedi office about a month ago asking them about it, and they passed it off as a 'happy spitter" I was like ok whatever...

Well, at his 4 month appointment he weighed 14.8 pounds, now at 6 months, 14.15 pounds... so basically nothing for weight gain.  Thats when they finally decided to do something about it. Today I will be scheduling him for an upper GI, where he will take the contrast stuff and they will watch it pass through his system, and see how his stomach digests and how his intestines work and what not.  So we will see what that brings around.  They also switched him to Similac for spit up (was on regular similac) which has the rice cereal or whatever it was (I forget) already in it, and helps thicken it up once in the stomach.

They also said he is still about a month advanced as far as his motor skills.  He is holding toys, switching them from hand to hand, so his coordination is fantastic.  He is also responding to his name very well.  Last night I was working with him on this one in the tub.  I would say different words and names, and he would almost just ignore me, but when I would say his name, he would turn around and look at me and start to giggle...

we started the formula last night, it helped while he was eating, when he burped... but after he was done for about 10-15 min, he was throwing up again... so the only time it helped was while he was eating... but Im hoping it will just take a little bit of time.

Maybe his tummy needs to time to adjust. Has your pedi said anything about  it possibly being a milk intolerance? DS1 had issues with milk based formula. He completely outgrew his issues with milk by the time he was 18 months old.

  • Hey so how did the test go?
