Recommend your white noise or other sound machine

We have soft music playing in our room at night (we've used it since I had a bout of insomnia a few years back) so I didn't think too much of it when DS was born since he was in our room for the first 6 months. 

We got this as a shower gift and so when we moved DS to his crib, we started using it as he falls asleep.  It's great for when he falls asleep, but it shuts off after 18 minutes. 

Lately, he's been waking up when there is any sort of sudden sound during the night so I think we need some sort of continuous noise.  It doesn't necessarily need to be white noise - rainfall, ocean sounds, etc. would work.  But it's a jungle of sound machines out there!  What did/do you use for LO and do you like it?

    DS can sleep through anything with this!

    Oh and it never turns off. You can put it on a timer, but we don't. Leave it on all day actually! lol

    I have a hepa filter running in our room but we also have a homemedics humidifier that has noise built in .. LO also has a recordable monkey that has white noise as well as jungle sounds and a melody... we do ok, pretty much once he is asleep he will sleep through anything. 

    This is the kid who slept through 4 days of roofers with nail guns ripping off a roof and replacing it and dropping pallets of tile on our roof

    We have the Graco Sweet Slumber Sound Machine. It doesn't shut off and has a variety of sounds. I have never tried it, but you can hook up an iPod for music as well. The feature I really like about it is that the top is a nightlight with a very soft blue glow. Makes it so easy to check on LO with out turning on an additional light or using the phone as a light.

    We don't have an ipod, but we downloaded 10 hours of white noise (rainfall) from the internet.  We put it on a usb and connected it to our player that is in DD's room.  Not sure where DH got the white noise from, but I could ask if you are interested in going that route.

    We used the sleep sheep at first, but then realized that DD was waking up when it turned off, so no good.  I only use it for naps now.

    Wipz, I'm super jealous of your little man sleeping through anything!  The people four houses down from us were reroofing and the roofers kept waking DS up.  FOUR HOUSES AWAY!  This kid is such a light sleeper!

    We got a used iPod dock and an old iPod. A friend gave me this CD:

    I have it loaded on the iPod and set the iPod to repeat. It works great!

    I use an app on my phone. White noise ambience. It has ocean waves, rain, floor fan, and others. You can create playlists and set a time limit or just let it play all night. And you can do other things on your phone while it plays.

    We also use the homedics sound spa lullaby.  It comes highly recommended on the N&BG board.
