What are you doing about a winter coat? It gets pretty damn cold here but I can't see shelling out $100 for a winter coat I'll barely get a season out of. Have you had good luck at secondhand stores or anything?
I got a carhartt but it's fairly big since I use it for hunting and what not so I needed room for layers. Honestly, I've been bouncing from hot to cold so I've been layering more than wearing a coat. T-shirt, then hoodie or sweatshirt, fleece zip up and then my coat. That way I can take it down if needed since I seem to over heat quickly. In Chicago, you need something with a hood, that covers your fanny and good with the wind for sure.
ETA - Also, at the outlets in Aurora, we went down there for their midnight madness sale on Thanksgiving. It wasn't as crowded until the black friday shoppers got there around 5. We went to the Spyder outlet and I got a steal for my coat, it was $100 but it had a fleece liner that zips in and out and the waterproof outer shell since it's ski jacket. Well worth the $ IMO.

I plan to use my husband's Carhartt too. That's what I did last time.
I'm pretty small and honestly, my bump is slow growing.. so I actually am not concerned about a winter coat at all. I might need a spring coat come March or so but i feel like i will be able to easily wear my regular winter coat.. I guess we'll find out!
I ordered one from Old Navy's maternity line. It's a puffy coat with fleece lining. It was on sale and then I also had a 25% of promo code! I don't remember who said it, but one of the ladies on here said it was great!

I'm actually thinking of doing this too. As it is I barely fit into anything from before DD, so I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get something I'll be able to wear. Comfortably anyway.
I live in the South, so "winter" here is not nearly as bad or as long as it is in the great white North. As such, I'm hoping that for the coldest bit of it, I'll still be small enough to fit into my normal winter coats. Since this is my first, I'm hoping to get away with it!

Our cold winter generally doesn't hit until January-March... so far I still fit into my winter coat. But I also have a big fleece north face that my aunt was getting rid of so I snagged it from her last year when I was pregnant with DD and it fit my 40wk belly just fine so I'm planning to stick with that, with layers underneath, they say that's the best way for us pregnant ladies anyway because our body temperatures are naturally higher and it's better to be able to easily strip layers yadda yadda
Proud babywearing, breastfeeding, vaccinating SAHM of 2U2!
If you're still in Chicagoland I'd go to either the Aurora outlet or the one in Valprasio(less tax). Should be some good veteran's day sales this weekend.
I actually bought one on clearance at Target at the end of the season this year (around March or so, I think). It's a maternity peacoat, and was marked down to $12! How could I resist?! We knew we would be TTGP, so I figured why not go for it. Worse case, I could have given it to someone else who might need it for that price
I don't think that any of us will really be that big this winter. I would just wear your regular coat and let it be a little snug.
DS was born in December, and I just wore an old winter coat of mine that was a size too big and I was fine. That or for dress coats, I left a button or two undone and a sweater underneath. I was so warm that I was uncomfortable with a heavy coat anyways.
I used a 50 off coupon and bought an Old Navy puffer coat when I was pg with Henry, best money ever spent. It was awesome to have a wonter coat that fit, then the next winter I could wear it over both of us when I was wearing him, and I'll wear it this time too. Money so well spent.
Ditto. Dooooo it, ladies! The frost free puffy coat from ON is on sale right now for 48 bucks. It's so worth the price.

I bought a raincoat at the REI used gear sale for some crazy cheap price (under $15). It's a size too big (and it's a shell made to layer, so it's even bigger) but worked great for Oregon rain, and let me layer hoodies and things under it for warmth. I'm guessing I can deal with that instead of my cute wool coat this year. Puffy jackets here don't work-it rains all winter.
I have seen maternity jackets for sale on Craigslist, so that could be a spot to look for one if you're in the market...
Can I be a naive FTM and just say that it never crossed my mind I would be showing enough to need a different coat this winter? I'll probably just use my regular coats and not zip/button them. I live in the same area as you, but I commute via car so my outside exposure is very limited and consists of running from my car to my office building/store/gym/etc and back.

This is the one I have from when I was pg last time. Def worth the money.
I have the famed ON coat from my pregnancy with DS, but he was born in February and we lived in upstate NY at the time so it was essential. Everyone's body changes at different rates and in different ways though so I would guess many people due in June could get away with regular coats or layers for the winter. If I didn't already have mine I'd just use my larger fleeces or not fully button my dress coats.

I got an Old Navy puffy maternity coat with my first pregnancy. It was under $50 with a promo code and it was quite warm.
Last time I was pregnant I was due in December and never bought a maternity coat. I just wore my husbands winter coat and I'll probably do it again if I get too big for mine. Just tell him to suck it up and go without

I bought this coat when pregnant with DD2 (January b-day). It's great but not "stand outside for hours" kind of heavy.

I have a Columbia down jacket in L that I've been wearing for several winters. It's a smidge tight so I ordered some other brand during the REI member sale in XL and it was waaaay too tight.
Either ordering the ON one or waiting until outlet mall in Houston over Thanksgiving.
DS was born in December, and I was determined to make my coat work. That meant buttoning the top and bottom, with belly hanging out! LOL! DH said I looked like a crazy woman, but whatever. 3 months along is nothing like 9 months, so I'm pretty sure I can make my coat work again!
Last time I was pregnant my mom bought me a wool and angora wrap jacket from J. Jill. I was not maternity and so I still wore it all last winter as I can cinch up the belt and make it look nice and fitted.
Baby 1 was due in April so I got a ton of use out of it.
But with June baby we are not going to be that huge in the winter really, I would imagine you could probably get away with squeezing into your jacket now unless it's very fitted. I think a spring jacket is going to need to be more roomy, especially in Chicago and for me in MPLS where spring can last until June
Try second hand stores too!
