When did you start getting BH?

I had a scare last night, that turned out to be nothing. I was in L&D because I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid.  The tests came back negative.  When I was hooked up to the monitors, it shows that I have regular BH.  I had no idea, so I asked what I should be looking for.  Now, I know that I am having them everyday.  I guess I am worrying myself after last night.  I am trying really hard to stay very hydrated.  I am drinking close to 2L of water a day.  I am choosing to take it a little more easy too. I def push my limits on the weekends with cleaning all day, etc.  They did not put me on any restrictions.

Re: When did you start getting BH?

  • Glad you are OK! BH are annoying.....I started getting them at 18 wks and, though they are normal and nothing to worry about until they start changing your cervix (I also get them pretty much every day) there is definitely a correlation between them and activity/hydration level. Try to not push yourself too hard, or get DH to do some of the more physically demanding chores Wink.

  • I started having BH in the late teens and was diagnosed with uterine irritability (contractions I couldn't feel) at my 32 week NST. I started feeling them right after that appointment. Those contractions were different from BH and they didn't go away when I changed position. In the end, I was contracting every 3-9 minutes all day/ every day.

  • I started getting them at about 21 weeks. It scared me at first because it felt weird for my stomach to get so hard. I get them every day now and just ignore them.

  • I started getting them around 16/17 weeks.  It has gotten more noticeable as I grow larger.

My doctor told me only to worry about them if drinking water, changing positions doesn't relieve them or if have more than 5 in an hour.

I now feel like around dinner time every day I have one or two.  I definitely second that not drinking enough water or over doing it can definitely make them happen more frequently.

  • I had contractions.....measurable and at regular intervals with my son starting at about 22 weeks.  They had me do NSTs twice a week from that point forward.  He was born at 37w6d.  This time with the twins I know that I am having them again so I am not at all surprised.  Staying hydrated and not pushing too hard is helpful, you are doing the right things!  Hang in there, it can just make pregnancy VERY long!!!!   Good luck!!!
