Looking for some super soft and big receiving blankets...

My daughter HATED being swaddled, but I am hoping my little man likes it and will help him sleep in his crib from day one. I bought these receiving blankets for my daughter and I loved how soft and they were also quite a bit larger then the other ones I picked up from target. Does anyone have any suggestions on where or what kind I can buy that are more like the size from the hospital?

  • We had a harder time swaddling with smaller blankets than larger ones. The Aden Anais boutique version blankets were great for swaddling. We switched to a swaddle me after dd grew a bit.

  • If you are looking for super soft and big receiving blankets I recommend Aden + Anais.

However, DD was really small when she was born and the A+A blankets were way too big to swaddle her in. We had taken a bunch of hospital blankets with us when we left and used those for the first month since they were the perfect size for swaddleing her. When she outgrew them we switched to A+A which I liked better because they were softer and gave a tighter swaddle.

  • One of the LO's that I watch had a ton of them made by his grandma.  They were just soft fabric stitched around the edges.  She made them large and they were so much better than other receiving blanket I have seen.

This is what I did. I bought flannelette in some nice colors and patterns and edged them myself. They were much bigger and the fabric/colors/etc were much nicer than in store, and less expensive. I halved them at first for swaddling and not as lo's got bigger.
  • Just gifted my BFF an aden n Anais swaddles.. Her LO was born at 10 odd pounds and she uses it for everything!

She also did what PP said and bought some cloth and stitched some large ones!

  • Thanks ladies! I bought a 4-pk of A&A at target. We will see if he likes the before I spend the money on another pack! :)

  • I LOVE the Aden and anais swaddle blankets.
  • I bought some Swaddle Pods by Summer Infant that are for newborns 5-10 lbs, it's like a little sleeping bag that just zips up. I'm hoping this will do the trick with DS is too small for the swaddle, with DD we were never able to master swaddling with a blanket, she'd always wiggle her way out of it. I'm also going to get some A+A blankets as well, they weren't around when I had DD so I'm ready to try them out!
