I feel like I have nothing done but at the same time I am not sure what I have to do. I already have all the furniture and big ticket items.
Are you taking things out of storage and getting them ready or are you waiting until the due date gets closer? My LO's will be sharing a room and we left the crib in there after we transitioned DD to her toddler bed. They will share a dresser and the closet and the changing table is still in there.
Eventually I will have to get rid of all girl clothes and buy boy clothes but I am waiting for another ultrasound to absolutely confirm that LO is a boy.
Am I missing something? I guess I could stock up on diapers slowly but I don't want to buy too many in case LO has an allergy.
Re: STM's- What are you doing to get ready for baby?
I've been WANTING to do something, but.. no, nothing. Also waiting to confirm this LO is a boy (next week! can't wait!) before I pull out my box of smallest clothes and sort through it for gender neutral stuff.
We won't be getting a crib right away, since LO will be in a co-sleeper for the first few months. We'll pick up the crib we want when it's time to make the transition.
I do have a carseat, but that's only because I found a great deal for it half-off. I dared buy it from craigslist, opened, but after chatting with the mom selling it (she got it new as a gift, didn't like it and just pulled out her old bucket seat after a week), I had a good feeling about it and agreed to the purchase.
We honestly don't have a lot in storage. We were apartment dwellers and moved halfway across the country, so we purged a lot and big ticket baby items were the first to go. All we kept are a few boxes of clothes and a box of items (like my breast pump and breathable bumpers).
I promised DH I wouldn't start buying stuff until after Christmas. Have to buy the co-sleeper, a dresser, and a swing. Plus clothes. Honestly, not sure what to do for clothes. I was flooded with donations with my first and just kept them with my second. Don't expect a similar flood this time around, so might actually have to buy the wardrobe myself!
Everything has been purchased except the full size swing, pack n play, and car seat. We will be getting all that after Christmas.
One of my biggest concerns was getting our 2y/o DD transitioned into her own bedroom in her big girl bed so she doesn't feel replaced when the baby gets here because we bed share. We accomplished that without any issues.
We need to paint our room, hang the crown, and lay new carpet. Then just get everything set up. So mostly "labor" type stuff which Dh intends to do this winter when work is slow.
We are leaving the paint color (a neutral tan) and just need pink curtains (already have a blackout shade). The room is our office currently, so we need to clean all of that stuff out. We bought the crib and it is in a box, waiting to be assembled. The rocker/recliner is already in there as well, as we used it for DD. I need to order the dresser, get a new monitor and a new infant seat. Other than that, it will just be accessories.
We are re-using DD's crib bedding/sheeting. Just need to wash that. I am chomping at the bit to get her bins of baby clothes out of the attic, but the Christmas tree is in front of them and DH said I have to wait until we get the tree out in a few weeks! Darn it! My overall plan is to try and get the room cleaned out in the next few weeks and then wait to really put the nursery together until after the holidays.
DD #2 - 03.13
::MyBlog::
OK I don't feel so bad for not getting anything accomplished.
Next on my to do list:
- Go through DD's clothes and pull out gender neutral stuff; donate the rest
- Unpack baby stuff and make sure everything is ready for new baby
- Choose the name!
- Finish potty training (Almost there!)
- Get a few packs of diapers and some boy items (blankets, clothes, etc)
I'm where you are- a friend is coming this weekend to go through our girl clothes, and once we've got the four years of girl clothes out of the way, we'll paint the room and then start pulling stuff out of storage and hang some decor stuff up. We've already got most of the furniture and big ticket stuff we need. We've got boy clothes coming from another friend whose son didn't fit the clothes in the right season, so I don't want to buy a ton until I know what's in that load.
I've got a wishlist of some stuff we didn't get the first time around that I'd like to have this time, but we'll wait on buying any of that since we've had several relatives tell us that they want to buy something for this baby.
I haven't done a single thing and I'm getting really antsy about it. DH won't let me buy anything until after christmas...which means that I can't even empty out our office (LO's future nursery) yet.
On my to do list:
I'm an over planner so it's really driving me nuts that I can't even at least move the office to the playroom already.
I will replace some bottles and all nipples. I'm going to replace all pacifiers. I still have to go through all of DD's old newborn clothes and seperate whats neutral from the girl stuff (we are team green). I won't actually wash the clothes until due date is closer.
I think the most time consuming task will be cleaning/sanitizing all the old baby toys and swings/jumpers/pnp/ high chair etc.
Not a whole lot to do. Preparing is so much easier the second time around when you have everything already.
Even though this one is another boy, I'm already guilty of buying more clothes. It's my guilty pleasure.
I'm sure we will have a list of little things we need but I will get those closer to time and definitely after we are in the new house.

I went through all of DD's clothing after our elective u/s at 16w (it's a boy!) and sorted through what I wanted to keep for her memory box, GN, donate, and consign. I've held onto it to make sure he was still a boy at our anatomy scan (done on Tuesday, still a boy), so now I'll actually start shifting through it and getting rid of stuff.
We will be transitioning DD to a different room (her current room is next to ours and smaller) including an either full or queen size bed, depending on what DH & I decide on since it will also double as our guest room for our rare times we have OOT guests. We are building her bedframe (https://ana-white.com/2012/01/plans/hailey-platform-bed) and possibly her new dresser, so that has to be factored in. We're also replacing some diaper covers (cloth) and new pocket diapers.

Chart for TTC#2
We have done absolutely nothing so far, and I can't see anything even being started until after Christmas. For sure need to sort clothes and find gender neutral stuff in case we have a boy (team green, not by choice) but that's about all we can do in advance.
We are planning on moving in the spring, as we don't actually have a room for the new baby. They'll be bunking with us in a PNP until we move, and DD will just stay in her room and upgrade her to a big girl bed with the move.
