So I finally mentioned something to my doctor (PCP) last night at my physical. He prescribed Celexa (20mg) and we'll give it a whirl until the Spring and can re-evaluate then. He said it may be more of a seasonal depression thing at this point (7 months PP) than "baby blues". We'll see, I'm willing to give it a try! Anyone else taking this med/dosage? I've never been on any meds other than birth control before..
Re: So I finally spoke up to my Dr...
My general dr put me on 10mgs of Celexa at first...I gave it 6 (awful) weeks and it did nothing for me! Hated it! My dr did nothing about it!!!! This is what pissed me off the most. I finally had to take my health into my own hands and see a professional (a psyciatrist) who knows what they are doing when prescribing these meds. I also found a great therapist. I was diagnosed with PPD/PPA at 7 months PP. It can happen w/in the first year after birth...so it may be the real thing. Besides the baby blues only last for a couple of weeks and it is totally normal. PPD lasts much, much longer and isn't normal. Big difference. I hope the meds work for you and you don't have to do more digging like I did, but just in case wanted to give you the info.
Good luck!
