I'm not sure if the nausea is because of the pregnancy or because of my grief?we had to euthanize our elderly Cavalier King Charles Spaniel on Wed. night. I've been SO nauseous and haven't been sleeping.
I'm at 5 weeks now and I have acid reflux and nausea issues anyway so I'm not too concerned. The main thing is that I'm really thirsty but don't want to eat/drink?and I know I should.
Do saltines really work?
Re: So Nauseous
So sorry about your puppy.
Ditto on the nausea. It is to the point with me that I cannot drink bottled water anymore b/c the mere thought of it makes me nauseous. Isn't that strange? I don't know if it is the taste of the plastic or what but I can't drink it. Oddly enough, I can manage to get down any water that is from a tap and has a ton of ice. Bread and Keebler Club crackers helps a bit but I have found that if I just have anything in my stomach, I feel better.
I'm so sorry about your dog!
As for the nausea, I have been best able to eat carb heavy comfort foods when nothing sounds good - bread, pancakes, cereal. Salty snacks like pretzels, crackers, and even potato chips have helped as well.
Do try to drink lots of water. I found that ice cold water actually seemed to help me feel a bit better.
Thanks for the suggestions and the condolences.
Part of the problem is that last night my dinner was too rich. I'm just feeling "off" today. And I guess the early pregnancy fatigue is taking it's toll.
I'm going to see if there's any bread in our office pantry (work for my family, so we bring food and share).

so sorry to hear about your dog ....

Yes, the nausea is fun isn't it? I found that pretzels and bananas work best for me....also a hot cup of chicken broth helps me keep food down after a small meal. My food just gets stuck and I can't digest anything ...Funny thing is I used to be a BIG coffee drinker before I got pregnant, but now, I just can't keep it down. The doc told me that it'll get even worse at 10-12 wks, I was like "Geeee, thanks!"....she did mention that if I wanted I can take vitamin B, that should keep the nausea from getting too ugly. Good luck!
So sorry to hear about your dog.
I agree about the carbs. That's about all that sounds good. I wouldn't say I'm super nauseated yet but not much sounds good, except carbs. At work cream of wheat works well for breakfast, and toast, bagels or pasta.
Just a note about B vitamin, I already take extra B vitamin, maybe that's helping with the nausea. But from previous experience I'd be sure you eat when you take B complex vitamins, hard I know if you are nauseated, but if you don't eat I've found the vitamins can cause upset stomach too. I've had that experience with taking B vitamins before getting PG.
