Multiples

Large Uterus

I had my first appt yesterday to confirm pregnancy and what not. The dr did my pap and also did an internal exam to feel my uterus. After feeling it she asked if twins ran in my family. I said yes because I have twin brothers. She than asked if I was sure on the last time I got my mentral. I said yes because I calander it. Afterwards she said she'd want to make sure and get the doppler to see if she could find a heartbeat (according to the dr I'm only 6 weeks). She couldn't find a heartbeat. So she agreed with me probably being 6 weeks (which according to the due date calcalator I'm 7 weeks; so I'm a little confused about that). My questions is: Did any of you ladies that are having mulitples have this situation? Did your doctor find that you had a large uterus? I have an ultrasound on Monday to confirm but I'm just a little concerned. TIA!

Re: Large Uterus

  • How large did she say you were measuring?? At 6-7w the difference in size is still going to be subtle even with multiples. Try not to worry. Could be that you ovulated earlier despite your last bleed, could be multiples, could just be that your uterus is growing faster than normal. You'll have better answers on Monday, and there isn't a lot you can do besides stress yourself out before you have a visual on what's going on.

  • Rynleigh- She didn't say. Yeah, I just hate that we have to wait a whole weekend to find out what is going on. DH initially freaked out but as of now he is relaxed and just can't wait for the ultrasound.

  • ah, your doctor should keep her mouth shut! my doctor said mine felt bigger at my first prenatal visit, but he didn't tell me that until AFTER the ultrasound that showed triplets. :P

  • Yeah my OB said mine was bigger too at my first visit with her (7 weeks)- however since I had already had an ultrasound with my RE and knew I was having twins it wasn't a big surprise.
  • This does not seem reassuring ladies! But I'll wait and see on Monday. Thx for all your input.

  • My dr. also said mine felt larger. I had already had an us with my re and knew i was having twins.

  • Yup, my dr said I was measuring large at my 10 week appointment so we had an ultrasound two days later and sure enough!  The wait was excruciating for sure!
