So yesterday I was all happy to have a two months old and to be EPing. At 3am, my pump died. Going to call medela, but since I cannot find a receipt, I think I am sorta stuck buying a new one. Plus, I bought it when big A was born, so it is been a while.

Oh, and lil A gets his first shots in like three hours and I am not looking forward to that or the aftermath. Crap!

    aww I am sorry.  I heard Medela has great customer service, so hopefully they will help you out.  Your pump should definitely last longer than that.  Which one do you have?

    I would definitely call Medela before purchasing a new one.  Is there someplace you can rent one from or borrow one from a friend until you talk to Medela?  It's not like it's been years since you purchased it, so it definitely should last longer.  Good luck!

    If you do end up needing to buy a new one, contact your health insurance company.  Mine covers breast pumps.  It's worth a call.

    Medela's CS is supposed to be topnotch. Hopefully they don't disappoint!

    This is a huge bummer. PPs have posted great advice on the pump.

    Good luck with little A's shots. It is so hard to watch but a cuddle from mom will make a world of difference afterwards.

    When you called him "Lil A" it made me think of the Dr. Seuss Alphabet book... "Big A, little a, what begins with A? Aunt Annie's alligator. A... a... A."  And you actually have a Big A and a Lil A :)

    So my pump works again! There was some kind of rcalcium behind the membrane in the valve. Cleaned the valve, replaced it, works now. I had borrowed sil's pump and when that did not work either, we were onto something. How in seven hells did that happen, you ask? Well, my mother insisted on doing the cleaning of everything dishes/bottle related and I was happy to let her. Clearly, I am am idiot who should know better.

    Thanks to all of you who gave advice! Aidan is doing well after his shots so far, anyways.
