xp: A cute grandparent gift idea (that is really a gift for the kids)

I posted this on 12-24 too since I also have an 18 month old.  (OMG time is flying!)

Ok--this is going to sound sappy...but there is one regret I had before my FIL suddenly passed away 2 yrs ago, and it's that we don't have anything with his voice on it.  Since then, I've been wanting to get those "recordable" books for all of the grandparents.  I just saw on zulily that they have those "record a story" books for only $7.99!!!!  I've never seen them that cheap.  Normally $20 and even amazon has them for $10+ each. 

Anyways--when you go in to zulily in the "search" box just type "record a story"--and there are at least 4 titles that come up like 3 little pigs, goldilocks, etc.  I'm going to buy them for each of the grandparents.  TRUE STORY:  I actually bought one  and did one myself before going for my 2nd c-section --I was so scared--and I wanted my son to have my voice for comfort.  It's his favorite book to this day because at the end I say "good night _______, I love you!"  and he kisses the book.  It's so cute.

    I have been wanting to do this for my boys- my dad's health is not good.  On a side note, one of my most treasured items from my childhood is the cassette tape of my grandma and me.  She loved her little recorder so she would "interview" me every so many months- it is so wonderful to hear her voice- my mom and older sister are also on the tape.

    That is REALLY cool.  You should get it put on to a CD and give it to your mom for a gift!  I bet she would love to hear her mom's voice.  That is really neat.  Thanks for sharing.  It makes me even more excited to be doing this.

    I went on there to buy one of those and ended up spending $275! Got christmas done for my brother, brother-in-law and a few things for DS! Thanks OP =)

    My parents do one of these for each grandchild each Christmas.  All the grandkids live in different states from my parents and don't get to see them that often and they all love these books!
