Exercise after CS

I'm not an exerciser.  I've never been much into exercise.  I should be, but I've always been fortunate to be thin...so I never "needed to".  But I gained 50 pounds with my DS...and I've got 20 left to lose...and a lot of it is in my tummy.  I'm going to start drowning myself in water to lose any additional water weight that might be hanging around (rings don't fit still).

But I know that aerobic exercise is going to be the best way to drop the fat on my tummy.  Any suggestions on how to start?  Where to start?  I'm a total novice at fitness, but I want to get into a routine that I can stick with.  I have to leave the house in the AM for work at 7 and get two kids ready before I leave...so exercise in the AM is not an option.  It'll have to be in the evening.

Advice?

Re: Exercise after CS

  • I would suggest some type of run/walk combo, eventually working up to running. I'm just getting back into running after CS with my first baby.  He loves the baby jogger! Mine has an infant seat adapter, so he can ride in it even tho he's so young. I love running, and it's just so much easier than going to a gym, equipment, dvds, etc. Pushing the stroller makes the running tougher, but I get an upper body/core workout from pushing him. I do loops close to home, in case baby gets grumpy.  Runnersworld website has a lot of good articles for starting out.  GL!

  • Thank you!  I was considering starting a couch-to-5k program.  I'll look on CL for a jogging stroller to get the upper body part too.  Thanks for the suggestion.
