I'm so over whelmed this year DD wants eveything and trying to limit it before it goes out of control. I had her make a list with my help and now trying to deciede what she will get and what I can tell others to get her if they need help.

What is your little one asking for? Not much, honestly - a guitar, a clock, Rapunzel stuff. She doesn't usually ask for anything unless we happen to be in the toy aisle, and then is always satisfied with a "maybe Santa will bring it"
How many gifts from santa? 2-3, plus stocking
How many gifts from DH and you? 2-3. We try to keep gifts from Santa and from us to a minimum, partly to avoid blowing our budget and partly because we try to focus them on Christmas as a religious holiday first and foremost, and secular second (due to our personal religious beliefs).
Does you LO get alot of gifts from other people also under the tree? Yes, but spread out over 2 weeks. We travel to see family and celebrate Christmas 4 or 5 times some years. I do make a list with things I think she might need/want and give it to family if they ask, and I try very hard to keep that list under control. Our family is usually pretty good about honoring our wishes to not go overboard, but they are the only grandkids and do get spoiled. Our house usually looks like Toys R Us exploded in it after birthdays and Christmas.

We have decided to try to keep it simple something from Santa , a stocking and something from mom and dad.
I was thinking a dollhouse already set up from Santa so she can enjoy playing with it. Some princess clothes from us or maybe some stuff for her dolls. I don't want her to be overwhelmed with things to open and she really doesn't need much.
She will get a few things from extended family. But it isn't unreasonable. I was brought up in a family where there were so many presents but I think it might be too much for me to maintain over the years. So I am going to try to keep it simply while I can.
What is your little one asking for? Disney Princess Barbies (none in particular, but she already has a couple), train table (prob not going to happen, we have a motorized train already and running out of room in playroom).
How many gifts from santa? 1
How many gifts from DH and you? 2. We decided to try to maintain the true meaning of Christmas (to us) and to try to keep the budget down we would get each child 3 gifts (symbolizing the 3 gifts Jesus received) each year, plus a stocking. The gifts are sometimes a couple of small things bundled together though.
Does you LO get alot of gifts from other people also under the tree ? Really the only gifts from others that would be under our tree would be the ones that my best friend from Florida mails each year. Instead of unwrapping them when they arrive I put them under the tree and let them unwrap them on Christmas morning.
We already have so many toys between hand me downs from my niece, my old toys that I've pulled out of my parents storage and all of the gifts they get from others so I'm trying to keep it under control and DD just had her birthday last month.
DD is getting:
1) A pad of finger paint paper, paint palette, paint brushes, paint and Melissa and Doug reusable sticker pad.
2) Clock that teaches time
3) Leapster with a couple games
DS is getting:
1) One of those rugs with roads and buildings on it to push his cars around on and a couple of wooden cars
2) shaped sponges so he can "paint" with sissy, Melissa and Doug reusable sticker pad
3) Airplane
Stockings will have more chalk for their chalk board decals in the playroom and maybe some fruit snacks or something (depends on how much Halloween candy we still have at the time)
We are on a budget and also want to make sure Christmas isn't all about the gifts, therefore here are the answers to your questions:
DD hasn't asked for anything.
We don't do Santa.
DH and I usually get each kid one or two small gifts.
Yes, they do get gifts from the family members, and although we've tried to limit it that's pretty much useless so we just let them do what they want. We do limit the number of gifts we give the other family members though, and have asked that they do the same but they don't. It's kind of annoying and somewhat uncomfortable, but we deal with it.
What is your little one asking for? He's too young to outright know to ask for anything.
How many gifts from santa? No set number. We'll see what we end up with and then designate from there.
How many gifts from DH and you? Same as above. We try to keep gifts to a minimum though because our families go way overboard buying for him. We're planning to buy him some wooden train tracks and trains. We have a few smaller things (like cars, he's really into cars) that we've picked up on clearance. We probably won't be buying too much additional. He's going to be thrilled with the train set
Does you LO get alot of gifts from other people also under the tree ? No. All of our family is local so we see them for gift exchanges.

What is your little one asking for? Not old enough to ask yet
How many gifts from santa? 1 big assembled gift from Santa and the extras go in the stocking. Like this year he is getting an easel and the art supplies in the stocking. Last year Santa got him the Zoo talker zoo and put all the animals in his stocking.
How many gifts from DH and you? His birthday is 7 days before Christmas so between the gifts he gets for both from other people, trying to be fair about it, and for the sake of our finances, we've come up with a system. He gets 2 gifts and 2 outfits for his bday and then he gets 2 gifts, 2 outfits, and his Santa gift with stocking for Christmas. This could stand to change as he gets older but for right now it's a perfect system for us.
Does you LO get alot of gifts from other people also under the tree? No, we go to my big family get together Christmas morning and my IL's get together in the afternoon and he gets all his other gifts at that time. We do keep his bday gifts under the tree but seperated out.
