How to nicely phrase a DC complaint

DD started preschool the first week of September. It has been an amazing experience for all of us and we love everything about it. Mid October she woke up from a nap for the first time wet, then went back to accident free. Halloween more than half of the class woke up wet from nap. Then she had one more accident at nap a few days later. Now when I go to pick her up he is in a pullup. I don't mind that they let her nap in it, but I don't think she really needs it as long as they are taking her to the bathroom before she falls asleep. Also, I have not provided any pullups so I feel bad they are giving her someone else's. She doesn't wear pull ups at home and only very rarely has accidents during nap. Today I got really upset because on Tuesdays the kids go to gymnastics in the school gym after school, right after nap. When I picked DD up she was still in a pull up and soaked. I don't want her digressing, she's been potty trained for over a year now. I know her teacher isn't lazy or careless... And I want to be careful in how I word my concerns. Am I making too big a deal out of this? How would you approach the teacher?

  • I think it's a valid concern. I've kind of BTDT with DS's old DC. I would just call and talk to whoever you think you should talk to. Let them know that you have been really happy with everything except the potty issue. Tell them that she doesn't wear a pull up at home and that she shouldn't need one as long as she gets a good potty break before nap. Bring up your concern about regression also. See if she's drinking a lot more at lunch there than she would at home. DS would drink all day long if I let him, so I made sure to tell his current DC to limit him to 1 drink with lunch... otherwise, he'd probably pee through everything during nap, pull up or not. GL!

  • Obviously the teacher is being careless. If you're not providing them with pullups they are taking them from another kid. And there is no reason any kid should have a soaked pullup on. I would flat out ask them why she's in pullups and ask that it not be done again. Reiterate that dd has to go potty before and after a nap.

It's really gross that they let her play in a soaked pullup like that. I'd be pissed if I was the one they were taking pullups from too. They are expensive.
