TTC Sexual Positions? Possible TMI

So I just started recently TTC. And the only position that my husband enjoys most is reverse cowgirl, which i heard was not a favored one when ttc. I heard alot of conflicting advice on which sexual positions are best and which aren't as good. I don't want it to be not fun for him by forcing him to do something different but has anyone had my problem or has anyone conceived regardless of the sexual position they used.

Also, is there any truth to laying down for at least 20 mins after?

You don't need to lay down for any time afterward. Get up and go pee (covered in newbie link, read it if you haven't...there's some good stuff there).

I think people have gotten pregnant from any position, so keep doing what you like.

I don't think it matters. Have sex as it is comfortable for you all as a couple. Don't bother laying down or propping your legs or any of that. Its a good way to get a UTI. Have sex, and get up (or dismount lol) and pee. Good luck!

Ahem. I stay on my back after. I know it isn't supposed help but it makes me feel better about the whole thing and I am not prone to UTIs.

As for positions, I agree with PPs. Some people try a different position every time to keep it fun.

Oh, and in no way is what you posted TMI. Not even close. You can call it TMI when you post a picture of your CM.

I prefer girl on top and we managed to conceive DD with no problem! I think it's fine....what's important is that you and your DH have fun and enjoy yourselves. And I refuse to lie down afterwards - I always pee right away....I had a raging horrible UTI a couple years ago (before DD), and I never want to go through that kind of discomfort ever again.

I agree with pps, on it doesn't matter on the position. The only additional thing that I've read/heard is to not change positions too often of you could dry up cm...and as I hope you know, most lube is not ttc friendly, so use pressed (found at most drugstores) If you need help in that department. GL to you!

I don't think position matters as long as the sperm gets to where it needs to go. Go get 'em cowgirl! I get up and pee after sex, I don't lay and "marinate" as my DH likes to call it.

I have no advice about positions, however I do lay down for 20 minutes afterwards and propped up with a pillow. I am not prone to UTI's though.

We TTC for 9 months the first time around, and the one and only time I stayed laying down and propped up with a pillow as the time we conceived DS. Was that the reason I got pregnant? Who knows, maybe not, but it sure didn't hurt anything.

But anyway, no, you don't need to stay laying down. I do for 5 minutes or so, but that was my normal pre-TTC, too. Just make sure you pee.

Yup, girl on top but with your back to your partner.

I've read that missionary is ideal but also that there's never really been any study to prove or disprove that. Do what you're comfortable with. No need to lie around afterward unless you want to. The healthy sperm should already be on their way.

I don't see how different positions would make a difference (except anal of course, haha). The only truth to that I could see is a position that allowed the guy to go deeper, the sperm would then be closer to the goal and might help if a man has a lower count. But even that I would doubt, I don't see how an inch or less closer would make that much of a difference.

As for laying down afterward, I do it BUT with some caveats. I am not prone to UTIs, so if you are I would definitely advise not to do it. Go pee, the good sperm are already well on their way by the time you would get up right away anyway.

I also do it because I think it takes away some of the romance to jump right up and run to the bathroom. Also I don't lie there for 20 minutes, I do it for maaaybe 5, not even. Just enough to ease my mind. Rationally I don't think it really helps, but after 18 months I am willing to try anything that doesn't harm me.
