We're not planning any more. Yet. I'm working on Matthew, and he's becoming more receptive. But we've also had an 'if it happens, it happens' kind of attitude. And...I'm a couple days late and plotting how I will get a stick to pee on without Matthew finding out.
Always welcome, Tess. We should have a Senior Citizens Moms check-in every day. (J/k...check-ins tend to bug me.)
And like I asked OU, did your doctor make a big deal about your "advanced maternal age?"
I adored my doctor. But he did send me to a high risk OB "just to be safe." I had all my early ultra sounds there. They made a big deal about the advanced maternal age thing, which drove me crazy. Like I was 80 years old having a baby.
After my big u/s, my regular OB discharged me from the high risk guy. The high risk office made a big deal about it, but my doctor said everything was perfect and to just ignore them.
Yeah, it was really my OB's nurse practitioner who made a big deal about it. Never missed an opportunity to tell me how bad everything was going to go because of AMA. I swear, she used that phrase every time she opened her mouth. Except when she was telling me about my weight. I gained 12 pounds while I was pregnant. What did she want me to do, lose weight?
I was referred to a perinatologist, too. Absolutely everything he said was wrong. He told me because of my age and weight, I was hugely at risk for all kinds of crap, and was really kind of pissy that I didn't get gestational diabetes. Absolutely refused to believe my glucose tolerance test. "They give you the same amount of that liquid whether you are a 98 pound weakling or you." I told my OB that and she said I didn't have to go back anymore.
Re: Hey Lori.....
No, she was very good about it. She's our age and just had her first as well so, she knew to take it easy.
Any more for you or are you finished? We're going to try for one more after the first of the year.
