You've never been pregnant so shut your mouth (ranting)

I have been having serious contractions for weeks and am in serious pain due to other pregnancy issues.  I have really bad sciatic pain in both legs and don't sleep but an hour or two at a time.  So today I have been peeing every 10-15 min. and peeing in my pants a bit due to the pressure.  I was saying that I am ready for this baby to come out this morning to my co-worker and boss.  I said it as I was trying to sit in a chair and grunting during the process.  My co-worker who has never been pregnant tells me that I still have a week and a half until my due date so I will be just fine.

Well thank you captain obvious.  I was unaware of when my due date is.  Thank you for clearing that up for me.  I understand that I am running low on sleep and high on hormones, so I am a touch irritable, but seriously!  Don't tell the almost 39weeks pregnant lady that I will be just fine because I haven't reached my edd.  It still freaking hurts and I am still ready to be done.  You've never been pregnant so keep your mouth shut.

End Rant

  • Add to rant: my mother keeps telling me that I won't go into labor until at least a week after my due date and that none of those natural methods work. When I tell her that my midwife said that these things will help my body get ready, she says "well I never heard of that. I guess I don't know anything, I've only had three children". Mom, your youngest child is 21. Isn't it possible that they know things now that they didn't know 20 years ago? Also, you are not a medical professional. You are my mother. Maybe just give me a hug and tell me you know how I feel and hope this little guy comes soon? K thanks. Also... stop texting me five times a day to see if I'm in labor. I promise to tell you when I am. Ugh.

  • Normally I don't really say my opinion on natural birth vs. medicated, but my friend started blatantly badmouthing people who do it naturally so I basically had to school her*. She doesn't have kids yet, but seriously - what do you know?? I am so sick of people talking to me about this like I haven't already made up my mind. Same thing with my mother. I printed out an article and they literally said to me, "we don't want to read that." Yet they keep going on and on with their opinions! STUFF A SOCK IN IT.

*I don't object to people doing things their own way, but don't be ignorant of the pros and cons.

This made me giggle....(sorry).  My mom makes the same kind of comments.  I told her about the negative result on my GBS test and she proceeded to tell me that they didn't have that when she was having me (I'm the youngest of 4 and 33 yrs old).  She wasn't saying they didn't have the test, she was telling me they didn't have GBS back then.  *MAJOR EYE ROLL*.  My mother also likes to remind me that she never took an pain medication with any of us.....and that is exactly why she didn't get to be in the delivery room when my daughter was born and is not allowed this time either.

After 40+ hours of labor and pitocin and the threat of a c-section, I relented to getting an epidural with my daughter.  My mother thought that was the best time to get on her high horse and remind me she didn't take pain medication with any of us.  That's when she got sent home....

  • What a b!  I'm sorry. :( Here's to early labor!

Thanks.  My dr wasn't convinced I would make it to my next appointment (Tomorrow now), but here I am.  I did get that hospital stay Thursday night.  Baby tricked me, the nurses and the dr thinking it was time, but she was just pulling her first practical joke.  So the waiting game began again.  I am praying and wishing...maybe begging for an early labor.  :)

  • What the h#ll is wrong with people???  I don't understand why they think it's even remotely acceptable to say ANYTHING contrary to a pregnant woman.  Just STFU, look at me with sad, understanding eyes, and agree with everything I say.  Good Lord.  I'm sorry your co-worker is such a douchecanoe.

And what's with the moms??  It's like they never had mothers who irritated them.  How can they not remember what to say what not to say?  Argh!

Wow.  I may be a tad hormonal myself.  ha.

  • This isn't exactly the same, but I am 37 weeks today and I posted on Facebook how baby could come anytime I'd be happy. Well, a lovely little gem of a family member commented and goes "doesn't it tick you off you could have up to 5 more weeks! LOL!" I wanted to be like oh you're cute... YES I KNOW, BUT I AM JUST EXCITED. takes pulse... Breathes I know it seems like nothing, but little things just piss me off man.

My mother (who has given birth 4 times, mind you) had the nerve to suggest that "in case I go into labor/am in the hospital for Thanksgiving" (i'm due a week later), I should consider going ahead and preparing the meal and freezing it. Then, all they would have to do would be to microwave it, and everything would be fine. I was like, "OR, you know, you could all GET OFF YOUR AZZES and GO TO SHONEYS. Seriously, Mother?! You sent us off to Pizza Hut when my brother was born on Christmas! And NO ONE COMPLAINED."

    *shaking my head*

  • Ugh!  Why is it that childless people feel so comfortable giving advice and arguing with pregnant women?  And people with children, you would think they would know to keep their traps shut!  I probably would have said something snarky to your co-worker and then regretted it, so good job with that self control.  Hopefully you'll be out of that office soon!

  • Captain obvious!! I love it..I hear you mama. You have every right to a well deserve rant. I'm so over it too with peoples stares and comments. Today, I was in the doctors office and had a lady sit next to me and just stared at me. I turned to her and said under my breathe..I'm not in the F'ing mood. Sometimes I feel like a zoo animal or something.. Its annoying!! Hang in there
