I am new to Houston, and just found out I'm pregnant. I live in Clear Lake, and was wondering what is the best hospital in the area to give birth at? Some things that are important: level of NICU, private room, friendly staff. I also would love to find a physician/midwife collaborative practice. I want a midwife to deliver. Hoping for a natural birth this time around, but not brave enough to use a birth center

Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Re: Recommendation for hospital and practice
I delivered at Women's and our son spent a substantial amount time in their NICU. They have a level 3 and a level 2 NICU. I was very impressed by everyone we encountered from the hospital (especially the neos and nurses in the NICU and the nurses in the postpartum unit).
I have a friend who recently delivered at TCH and said she had an exceptional experience. We've since used TCH for other matters, and I've been very impressed... you certainly can't go wrong there. Women's is just now starting to provide support for babies after discharge. If you suspect any complications, it will be much easier to start at TCH and keep the same specialists. I'm still waiting for Women's to send records to my son's cardiologist at TCH...
