Some things you just cannot unhear

A coworker is out for at least the week due to an injury. We called to check up on her and to see what she left on her desk that needs attention. During the call, she mentioned that her 3 dogs have not gone out in over a week. After we hung up with her, her boss said "You know, I never know what she means when she says her dogs have not gone out." Well, another coworker piped in that this lady does not take her dogs out to go to the bathroom. She has pee-pads down in her house but the dogs almost never use them (read: they go whereever they want). Tie this in with the fact that she also has (literally) 10 cats right now, I am utterly disgusted. I have no cluse how I can talk to her when she gets back with-out feeling like I want to puke. Even if she keeps ontop of cleaning up after the messes, her house must still reek!

  • This is gross for her but also pretty cruel to those animals. Do any other humans live in the house with her? That has to be some sort of code violation.

Just her son...who lives in the basement.

Assuming he's a child, not her adult son, I'm so sad for him. That's no way to live.

  • Yuck, why would she advertise this?  Also, I agree with Fian about some sort of code violation.  She sounds like an animal hoarder that you see on A&E.  Do you really need 13 animals?  Especially if you aren't meeting their basic needs?

  • that is horrible. i feel bad for the animals. I could never live in a place like that. I have enough issues with there being dog and cat fur everywhere.

A lot of young adults are still living at home these days. Is he an adult or a child?

Even if he's a teenager, why isn't he taking the dogs out? So freaking weird and gross.

  • I would call animal control. Not only is that cruel to the animals, it's a completely unsanitary environment for her and her son to be living in. She needs help.

Nope, he's an adult as in, in his late 20's/early 30's.

Oh, she most certainly is a hoarder. She was saying that at one time she had as many as 30 cats living there !!! I may try to somehow find her address to call animal control. I was wondering why I always felt sick/stuffed up around her (I'm seriously allergic to cats) and now I know it's because she is basically covered in the dander.
