How many newborn clothes are you going to buy for your new little one? My daughter wore newborn clothes but she wasn't in them for very long. I am having trouble trying to figure it out with this one.
I'm starting at 0-3 months and not planning on buying any NB sizes unless little once comes early. Many don't seem to stay in NB long so that's where I'm starting.
Some babies never wear newborn since they are born too big for it. I wouldn't get many. My DD stayed in them for a while since she was a very tiny baby, but I still didn't have very many outfits. Mostly just plain onesies.

DS definitely needed NB for a solid month +. He had mostly sleep n plays, so I will just reuse those since many are gender neutral if we have a girl. 0-3 fell right off him and looked foolish. When he did outgrow them at a month, it was only in the length because they were plenty roomy otherwise. He was 7lbs at birth and a due date baby.
I didn't buy many at all with my first and she ended up being 6lbs2oz and she wore NB for 3 months. We got lucky to get a bunch of hand me downs shortly after she was born.

Since DS was estimated to be a 9-10lb baby so we didn't buy any NB sized clothing. He was 8lb8oz when he was born and wore NB for a couple weeks-3 mo were just too big. Thankfully we had some hand-me-downs from DH's coworker.
It's so hard to say - it really depends on the size of your baby. My DD was small and stayed in NB for close to three months. Several friends/cousins had babies that skipped NB altogether.
DS was 7 pounds when he was born and was in NB for 6 weeks. We did not have a ton of NB sized outfits for him, maybe around 10. I would just get a few for now if you are worried about a big baby and you can always send someone out to get you more if you need them. Or you can take a break and go shopping for them yourself
LIke everyone else has said, it really depends on the size of your baby. Our LO was just over 6lbs at birth so she was in them for about 6 weeks. I didn't have any fancy outfits. We just did the little sleeper foot jammies and that's what she wore all the time until we got into the next size. I think we had 6 of those and just did a batch of laundry every other day to keep them clean.
My DD was over 9lbs, she wore maybe two newborn sleepers when we first came home and the rest was a waste. I didn't buy anything NB this time. I got some 03 and some 3mo.
My DS didn't really wear new born clothes at all since he was 9 lb 15 oz at birth. I'm thinking this baby will be a chunker too I have a few newborn outfits just in case (hand me downs) but definitely am not going to buy any
I don't usually buy newborn clothes unless the baby is small. I will buy 0-3 months. (Gifts, etc.) I will be doing the same with our baby for the clothes that we do buy. If baby is small and swimming in the 0-3 I will get a small amount of NB.
DH's side seem to all have large babies, so I've bought one set of NB onesies, but won't be buying anymore than that. If bubs needs more, I'll ask DH to go and buy some sleep suits from the Target near the hospital.

My daughters were 7lbs 4oz and 7lbs 5oz and were in newborn clothes for about 6 weeks. We didn't have much and had to go out and buy quite a few outfits and sleepers for them.
DD1 was 8lb1oz when she was born, and was in NB sizes for about a month. I dont plan to have any newborn "outfits", but I will have a fair number of NB onesies and sleepers on hand. That's really all you use the first month anyway.

I had to send DH out for nb clothes after LO was born. We only had a couple of nb outfits and the 0-3 were way too big on her. I bought a few more gender neutral nb outfits for this one at Once Upon A Child.
I bought a few newborn clothes but DD was born in the summer so she was usually just in a onsie and a light swaddler. This Baby will be the beginning of summer so probably the same if its a boy and thats it.
