But, most days I want to open the front door and let him run! I swear he barks at NOTHING and is constantly waking P from his naps (or scaring the bejeezus out of him). Ok, I'm done.
Do we have the same dog? lol ours has been a mess since we moved. If I step in pee by the front door one more time after getting home from work ... poor pup's making me crazy!
We have 3 dogs and it has been quite the challenge since DS was born. Our biggest issue is with one old dog peeing in the house. It is driving me nuts! We have tried meds and everything but it doesn't seem to be helping. Luckily most of our floors are solid surface. Another dog barks like crazy in the morning and I am always afraid she will wake up DS. I still love the dogs the same but they do end up being even more work now that the kiddo is here. Even though I vacuum a lot DS usually ends up with dog hair all over his pants. It is just annoying.
Harpo is a 65lb sissy!!!! Don't get me wrong, he is great with P, but some days he is more work than DS! It's always fun getting P bundled up and put in the stroller so I can take Harpo out for a walk each morning. We live in a townhouse, so I get to do this 3 times a day! My neighbors must laugh at me in private - it's quite a scene.
Shadow is great, but there are days where I want to sell her to the circus. Yesterday was one of those days. I have started to send her upstairs to DH with the mail once it's arrived. Saves me from going up - which is no problem now, but it was when I was very pregnant and right after the c/s. so...she has her little bag, which she grabs once she hears the mailman and then I go and put DH's mail in there and she runs up and brings it to him. Then he gives her a treat, puts a note saying thanks in the bag and sends her back. Great.
Yesterday, there was no mail. Shadow kept pestering me with her bfucking bag and we tried to send her up with just the empty bag. Nope, she wasn't buying it. I put some newspaper in it. Nope.
Then I went outside with the paper and came back in. She bought that. But she wanted to be sent up and down more than once.
I swear this dog is too smart for her own good. And mine.
My dog is much like that. Also he is afraid of anything that beeps, squeeks and makes a weird noise. Because you know none of that happens when you have small children in the house. So if he isn't barking at a shift in the wind he is plastered to my leg shaking like a leaf.

ugh. I feel your pain! I'm glad i'm not the only one that has had thoughts of just opening the door and saying "Buh Bye!" I'm also guilty of telling them they are one bark away from being a rug or coat! I have two dogs and they drive me nuts some days. They bark at EVERYTHING, chase the cat, bark to go out and then bark to come in over and over and over again. And when I finally get LO down for a nap and they bark ahhhhh! That is when I want to just open the door.
I have to take deep breaths and remind myself how much I love them. And thank goodness for Doggy Daycare! When we got a lot going on they go there and they just play all day and come home and go to bed. I wish we could afford them going every weekday.
We try to wear them out with walks but even if they are panting and just about passed out, if a squirrel is in the yard, they pop up and go wild.
