Elf on the Shelf?

Hello!  Just curious, the kids arent allowed to touch the elf, so do you just leave him in his spot after they find them, and then move it when they arent paying attention?? or does he stay there for the day until the next morning?  I see a lot of funny places to put him, but Im not sure my 3 year old can resist touching for a day LOL

    I do it at night after they are asleep and they find him in the morning.  Then we leave him there until that night when I move him again.  I sometimes will just hide him after they find him if it is in a place that they can get to etc. or I do it in high up places.

    Great ideas on Pinterest for funny things to do with him too :)

    Thanks! Yeah, I was looking at pinterest and they are really funny...just some of them cant stay that way all day haha, I didnt know the "rules" and wanted to research it ahead of time

    Yes, no touching or he loses the "magic." DD didn't really get the whole thing last year. Her birthday is at Christmas, so she didn't really get it. This year, he will be turning 4, and will really buy into it.

    DS loved finding the elf last year. I would move him at night sometimes I'd run and do it in the morning if I forgot. DS is already talking about his elf. I saw the movie will be on 11/25.

    We leave him all day in the same spot. So I always made sure he was up pretty high/out of reach. At least until the kids are older.

    Our elf gets moved at night after DS goes to bed.  I did get him a plush elf that doesn't have the "magical powers" that the real elf does.

    Our elf arrives the day after Thanks giving and he's always in a different spot the next morning. The kids know not to touch and I love hearing them talk to Stocking so he can tell Santa that night.
