Overusing the Ergo?

How much time do your little ones spend in the Ergo? I have 3 under 4 right now, and now that DD#3 is big enough to go in the Ergo without the insert (which I didn't love as it was so hot for her) she is in it ALOT so I can deal with the others and get things done.

I'm just wondering how much time is okay for her to be in it in a day (is there a maximum time? - she still gets tummy time etc, and put down for naps sometimes during the day - but she's probably in it a solid 4-6 hours total per day, not continuous obviously)?  Is there something else I should be using or interchanging with (we have a Moby too which I had been using, but am favouring the Ergo more).

Thanks!

  • I just have to say I am in awe - 3 under 4!

Now that my LO is 4 months, floor play has been good for him to practice rolling, etc. but he's not yet mobile enough to move when I put him down somewhere.

  • I wore my son at work for the first year, easily 4 hrs a day...his motor development is very advanced, so no worries there...

  • Baby will let you know if she doesn't like it. Many babies in the world spend all day on mamas' back while she works. Also remember that babies are "worn" 24/7 in the womb. I suspect the idea of putting babies down  for long periods of time is actually a fairly new/Western concept in the history of humanity.  Carry on! (ha, ha)
