DS just turned 8 months. I know you shouldn't compare babies, but it's sometimes hard not to because my 1st and 2nd children were crawling & pulling up at 5 1/2 & 7 months...so DS#2 is a whole new ballgame to me. He freaks out if he happens to topple over onto his belly from sitting. He gets really mad if I so much as TRY to give him "tummy time" yet his immobility seems to make for a very frustrated, bored, and angry little baby
Anyone else with a LO still not crawling?? I find myself fighting feelings of resentment toward him since my other two were already so busy and active by this age and he's clingy and relies on me to play "for" him...I guess I just need some assurance that he's not the only one not crawling. I worry about his development, but since he'e met all other milestones I think he's probably just fine. The closest he gets to being mobile is turning in circles on his butt.
Re: Still not crawling...or even trying, anyone else??
You're not alone. My DS didn't crawl until 8.5 months, and he started very suddenly. There was almost no transition, except for a few false starts where he would lean on his hands and lift his butt straight into the air and sit back down.
Like your LO, DS didn't want to be set on the floor at all. We did tummy time on the bed, but that didn't encourage crawling too much. What seemed to be his trigger was a visit from his 1-year-old cousin who crawled everywhere. He watched, completely fascinated. We put both boys on the floor surrounded by toys, and I sat on the floor with DS so that he felt secure. Watching his cousin totally made DS jealous, and he was crawling a week later.
Try not to worry! My DS1 didn't crawl until 9mos and DD didn't until after 8.
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.

My DS never crawled.
He took his first unassisted steps at 13 months.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about. Just be thankful you don't have to do a lot of baby proofing yet!
DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)
although we are not as old as your ds... my LO just started rolling over the end of last week... I have been reading for at least 2 months about younger babies who have been already rolling over for a while now.
at first I was really worried about it, but one day it just snapped, and I was like... I dont care... pedi said he is fine... he's fine... it'll happen when it happens... even if its a while more down the road...
GL!
This...with DD1
Neither of my kids crawled until they were 9 months.
I have heard that sometimes babies who have toddlers and preschoolers in the house can be faster to reach motor milestones because they want to catch up to their siblings... but sometimes they are actually slow to take chances because they're nervous about the amount of chaotic activity around them.
