Question from an old vet/current SAIFer

Hi Everyone -

I saw the post below about reviving the board, and wanted to ask a question (but wanted to make sure folks knew I was a SAIFer rather than just having my ticker show up in the post below).  I would love to see the board be revived because it was a great source of strength for me when I was in the toughest parts of my struggle.

I've often wanted to answer a question/post support, but since this is a newer group of women, I certainly wouldn't want to hurt anyone.   I don't recognize many of the names (and I think the exodus happened at a time when I didn't have as much time to be an active poster).

I know there are a few other ladies on SAIF with the same question.  We're happy to abide by any "rules" that you ladies wish, but wanted to double check to see if there's interest.  I know this comes up every now and then, but maybe getting more SAIFers over here could also help revive the board.

  • I think a lot of the women have a "welcome" message in their siggy.

As for me, I'm personally cool with anyone responding or offering support.

You'd probably be surprised how many don't have the "welcome" message in their siggy.  Honestly, there's been a number of times I've almost responded to a post, and realized the person didn't have it - so I chose not to.  I'm sure I missed it a number of times too, and hope I didn't offend anyone.

Apologies for butting in, since I was IF and not IFV, but I do lurk over here to check on people I was on IF with, as I am genuinely concerned with their progress and wish them the best.

I just wanted to extend a congrats to my old cycling buddy, Aegis.  Hopefully you remember me.  I'm so excited you got your BFP, and wish you the very best!

While I'm here, I would like to ask, along these same lines, if as simply a former IF'er, and not IFV'er, if I would be a welcomed poster, or if I should to continue to support from afar?

I'm currently 2IF, so I'm very interested in hearing any new info, so I do lurk on here and IF.  I just don't post much due to my SAIF status, so as not to offend.

  • the whole point of this board is for IFV, PaIF'ers and SaIF'ers to have a safe space to post all together.

IMO SaIF'ers should post here and if people don't want to see tickers or baby pics they should post on IF

  • Just to add my two cents . . . the point of this board was to allow one community for IFV  members to remain once they were pregnant and had their babies.  I don't think it's appropriate for someone that has not posted on this board, to go from IF to PAIF to SAIF and then pop in here.  Likewise, even if you have posted here, it doesn't seem right if you take a long break from posting here, that you should then start posting here again when you're ready to start trying for #2 and instantly want support again.  (Not directed at anyone in particular, just general feelings on the topic.)

  • Sorry - I didn't mean to start debate or hurt any feelings, and although you said you weren't directing the comment at me it sure felt that way.  I took the opportunity to ask a question because I saw the post below about trying to get some life back in the board and I wanted to see how folks felt about "growing the audience."  The fact that I happen to be cycling was purely coincidental...those who know me know that I wouldn't ever think about posting about my cycle here and would save those conversations for SAIF.  I was just trying to be helpful here, but it sounds like it wasn't the best idea.

Honestly, the reason why I haven't posted here is that I haven't felt comfortable because there's a new group of women on this board.  Most of the women I formed bonds with over the years when we were all "in the trenches" ("the "old timers") have moved on to the FB group.  I have challenges accessing FB at work and I don't have much time to post outside of work....but I think I'll just reach out to those ladies and see if I can join there.

     Hi Wormies and Bella!!!!  :)

I think this was directed at my comment, and I just want to say my comment had NOTHING to do with you.  I didn't know you were cycling.  I also want to say that my comment was poorly worded . . . my comment was solely directed at people that haven't posted on here and then come on here solely to get support about their own cycles, and not supporting other people.  I have absolutely no problem with IFV success chiming in on posts (or posting about their own cycles if they've continued to be continuous posters here).  Again, really not directed at you, so apologies if my comment hurt your feelings.
