NBR: anyone had a mole removed?

I had a black one taken off my TMI bottom yesterday. It was the size of a dime.

I am a little nervous, I have had it for years, but during pregnancy, could not see it...so I think it got darker during that time. The nurse said not to worry.

wanted to hear anyone's experience.

edit: I guess I would call it a freckle that was huge and was cut off. I always thought a mole was what the poster below me just said- something that pops out. But others call freckles moles...

so this was a huge freckle that was cut off me!

Re: NBR: anyone had a mole removed?

  • DH did. He had a raised mole on his neck.  It was painless for him. I think it was done by freezing it but I can't remember.

  • I've had a bunch removed (I have quite a few). Don't be worried! It's good that you have them checked regularly! I've had 2 come back irregular. But, they took enough of the surrounding area when I had it removed that they didn't need to take any more off. I just watch mine closely, and go to the derm at least once a year. Also, I had one that was BLACK and was really nervous - that one was completely fine.

  • I had six taken off throughout 2007 -- ugh. But all were benign, so that's good. I went in because I had one that was weird looking and had changed, and the doc spotted others that were weird to her. Don't worry -- how soon will you hear the results?

  • I've had several removed, all from my back.  I've never had any return w/ any issues.  GL!
  • I did about 6 or 7 years ago. It was on my back, nothing to worry about!

  • wow!

I should hear back at the end of next week.

Glad to know you guys all had great success. I hope I am just as lucky!

  • I always called the flat ones birthmarks and the raised ones moles.

I've had several moles (by my definition) removed.  I've had a one was frozen and cut off, one numbed & kind of scraped off, one removed via plastic surgery. (That one scarred the worst.)

They all came back fine, even the one on my back that I had taken off w/plastic surgery (it was bigger than a pencil eraser but not as big as a dime...)

  • I had several removed when I was younger form my head, back and neck. Because they had changed shape and size, turned out everything was fine. I was just given a shot and then the took a razor and sliced them off. One was punched out with a took. In H.S. I had several removed also. Not a big deal to me.
  • no, but i'd like to see what other people have to say.

i've got this one on my back that seems to get bigger and bigger. it's pretty gross. reminds me of that episode on the "ex list" (which prob got canceled) when she has a nasty mole and they tell her, "it's a good thing you're pretty."
