OB recommendations?

I go through the VA for my healthcare but now that I'm pregnant, they will have to refer me out to a regular hospital. I live in NKY and have heard that both Good Sam and Christ have great delivery teams. Has anyone had good experiences at St Elizabeth? I read a lot of blogs about how horrible the car ride is on the way to delivery and was thinking I should stay closer to home. Should I check them all out or is that just a waste of time?

Re: OB recommendations?

  • I'm not sure how the VA works. Will you be seeing an OB that will attend your birth? If that is the case, you should go where your doctor goes. If you have a different setup, I would look at St. E. to see what kind of feeling you get. It does not matter what hospital you are talking about in the tri-state, you will find those that had amazing experiences and those that tell horror stories. My neighbor delivered at St. E and she would go back. Maybe you could take a class at the hospital you are most interested in to get more familiar with the hospital, itself.

Do you have a birth plan? If you have anything out of the ordinary on your birth plan, you could start with the hospital that is most accommodating.

The ride to the hospital is not that bad, at least it was not for me. We lived in Covington and delivered at Bethesda. I think people just like to tell horror stories about anything, don't listen to them :)
