Toddlers: 24 Months+

not looking forward to the cold weather

I am dreading winter with a 25 month old.  Do your take your tots out a lot in the cold weather?  We try to get out of the house at least 2x a day- since 3 days she is being watched in the home and goes to schools 2 days- but I am starting to dread the weekends.  Everyone is always so busy so its not like we are with family or friends every weekend- and we go to the stores/chick filet and so forth but its hard entertaining a toddler on weekends!  any suggestions?  Or am I looking into it too much? She has enough toys but I swear she gets bored!

Thanks

  • Walk around the block, go to a park (with a towel if it's been raining), go for a short hike, play with bubbles/balls/etc., go to indoor pools, do craft projects, etc.  I try not to let it change what we do a lot - mostly just dress warmer!

  • you might get bored but i doubt your LO is getting bored. ;) there's so much to do indoors IMO: play hide n seek, have a dance party, make forts, bang on pots and pans, take a long bath and play with bubbles during it, read books, build puzzles, color, paint, watch a movie, bake cookies, have tickle fests, play dress-up, color a big cardboard box into a boat or an airplane, have a sock puppet show...

  • Do you have museums or libraries nearby? Or even a play place at the mall?
