When did you/will you make the switch? Our pedi appointment isn't until the week after her birthday and I'd like to start a little sooner. I am slowly weaning from the pump and going through more of my freezer stash for daycare. By the time she turns one at the end of the month I will likely be near the end of my stash and want to switch to milk then. Tell me your experiences please. Thanks!

    It's fine to start sooner than a year if you want. We have given DD WCM before, but we are trying to use the last of the formula. We have 2 bags to go and then we will switch her over. She already drinks formula out of sippy cups, so I don't think it will be a hard transition for her.

    DS has already switched.  We started about a week before his birthday and to use up our formula, I made the switch a little more gradual, using first 1/4 WCM and 3/4 formula, then after a few days half and half.  After a few days of that, I was out of formula and didn't want to buy anymore and just switched the rest of the way to WCM.  We didn't have any problems other than poops that were a little watery and very smelly.  That went away in about a week/ week and a half.

    We started a few days ago 2 weeks before her first birthday. We just switched cold turkey and she has been fine with it.

    I emailed our pedi about it, who recommended 1 year, and he pretty much said we would talk about it at the 1 year appointment.... so I guess we're sticking with formula til then.

    For some reason I'm really nervous to make the switch, so I'm going to wait until her 1y appt, 1 day after her bday, to talk to the Dr about it.  I think we have enough formula and ffreezer stash  to last until then, I really don't want to buy more formula and I'm hoping I can still nurse morning and night until then.

    I started it about two weeks ago and havent had any problems so far.  I have about another days worth of formula left and will not be buying any more.  Our 1 year appt isnt until a week or so after he turns 1.

    We switched at 11 months. Early, yes, but he had really dropped his formula intake and I was worried so pedi was fine with it.

    We waited until we were out of formula and just switched. It didnt phase him at all but he had plenty of dairy before hand.

    DS is one on the 14th, but his appointment isn't until early December. At 9 month appointment, Doctor said go ahead and start WCM whenever, after 11 months. Last week we had a can of new formula, and it will be the last, because I've started to alternate WCM bottles/sippycups with formula, or even do half and half. DS is so laid back, he loves it all, and there have been no issues with the switch. Hooray for no more buying formula!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for the advice ladies! I think I might try half/half for a week or so before her birthday and then just switch to WCM at daycare the following week.

    I was originally planning on waiting until after her one year appointment but then it ended up we couldn't get an appointment until two weeks after her birthday I will probably switch whenever we run out of formula.
