East Coast Check In

We're fine. Didn't lose power though my office did. Today is the first day back to work and we're not at full power/heat. Now we're in for a Nor'Easter.

DD did fine and loved watching the leaves blowing.

Re: East Coast Check In

  • Same here.  We didn't lose power, cable or internet.  My office was in the section of Manhattan with no power.  They only just got power back on Saturday so we're finally back at work.

Chris did ok.  His school was closed all week and is in fact still closed as they have no power.  He's hanging in there.  I'm a little worried because just last week his teacher said it looked like he had finally gotten used to being there and now he's been out for 6 days and counting.  He's been crying a lot - mostly I think out of boredom, frustration.  But he's also being very affectionate - which is odd for him.  He's seeking me and DH out or he'll let the baby hold his hand.  It's super cute.

Just trying to get back to normal.

  • Most of my extended family lives in the tristate...

    Brother:  Power on yesterday.

Friends:  Power on 2 days ago.

    Uncle:  On a generator.

Aunt:  Had to go back home to no power due to school reopenings.

Uncle:  He moved his family from Seaside Heights last year...my grandmother was sick and had to move out of her home & he moved in.  His house where his wife and son and he lived was flattened in the storm, where 29 people were found dead.  If he never moved, his family would be added to the 29.

  • We finally got our internet back.  Still now power.  We have a generator so my dad can work and unless our power comes back today (most likely won't, there's way too much clean up and repair to do) we won't get it for a while.  There is a huge nor'easter coming and we're supposed to get slammed with high winds (40+) and slushy freezing rain/snow
To my boys:  I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew
