Re: ~*~Infant Check-in~*~

  • Any challenges this week?- DS's feedings have been a challenge.  Sometimes he will barely eat 3oz and other times it takes 5oz-6oz.  I never know how much to make him so we start with 4oz and if that's not enough and he's still hungry we make a little more.  Also burping is an issue.  He's either great at it or awful.  He's been kicking and punching and hates being burped.  I try different positions but sometimes nothing works but if he doesn't burp he almost always spits up.

Milestones?  He is 2 months old today! He's also getting much stronger with his head and neck.  During tummy time he is using his arms more and is keeping his head and chest up off the ground for much longer stretches.

GTKY: How do you spend your "me" time (if you're lucky enough to get a little)?   Honestly? My me time right now is being able to actually take a long hot shower or a nap.  I love when DH is home and I can take a 20 minute shower or a power nap and not have to worry about DS waking up.  This weekend though I'm thinking a pedicure is very much over due!

We are also having some issues with DD eating lately since her shots. She used to eat 56oz now it could be 3,4,5, or 6! And she also fights it sometimes.
She is sleeping in her room now but still in her RnP. I posted about our napping in crib fail. I don't want to rush it but also don't want to be trying it when she absolutely can't fit in her swing or RnP anymore.
Any me time I get I usually clean house or go grocery shopping or like yesterday I went shopping for clothes for me for her baptism this saturday, work clothes, etc. I go back to work next week and I'm going to be a mess and don't think I will want any me time since I will be away from her enough while working. • Well, DD rolled over this past week, from her belly to her back, which was crazy! She's only done it once since, but she did it three times in a row the first time she did it. I'm trying not to push her because I know she's happier on her back, anyway, so I'm just letting her enjoy play time in both positions and we'll see how it goes.

We're really being challenged by some erratic bed times. I'm trying not to fret too much about a schedule, but even having a routine is difficult when some nights she lays down at 8:30 and other nights it's 11:30. Her naps have also gotten a little strange... she used to take a great nap after nursing and playing in the morning, usually from about 9:30 to noon, but I haven't been able to count on that. She's down right now, so here's hoping she stays sleeping! She's a much happier baby the rest of the day when she gets that good nap.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have DH and that DD is a pretty chill baby. The time I spend truly not worrying about her needs I spend writing, reading, or dashing out to the thrift store :)

  • Hi girls! This is my first check in here.

My babies reached their due date over the weekend. I can't believe it has been 8 weeks! It is a little difficult because I keep thinking "they are about 2 months old - they should be doing x, y, or z", but in reality they are still newborns.

We have encountered some feeding issues lately. My supply suddenly dropped about a week after I started successfully tandem feeding during the day (we still do 3 bottles each at night.) I realized that I had dropped several pumping sessions since they were both nursing, and I started the mini-pill the same week. I know it is not supposed to affect your supply, but some random google searches showed quite a few ladies that swear it did.

So now I am meeting with a LC, taking fenugreek, adding in lots of small pumping sessions throughout the day, drinking lactation tea, and eating oatmeal. I also stopped the pill (with our history and breastfeeding twins, I really don't think I will O any time soon). I hope it works quickly! They had begun to get fussy at the end of their nursing sessions in the evening, I think because they just weren't getting enough. It broke my heart to not be able to provide enough for them.

Wow, sorry that got long! I have no real "me" time at the moment. Sometimes I get to read while I pump though.

This week Iris is 12 weeks old. People told me to expect changes at 12 weeks but she has blossomed overnight practically. Lots more cooing, eye contact, grabbing, core control. She looks bigger and older too.

The sweetest skill she's learned is singing. When I sing to her, she coos loudly . She loves it so much that she'll shake her arms.

My me time is non-existant. She's BF, no bottles (her choice not mine), and bed shares. In the past 12 weeks, I've spent maybe 4 hours without her. About 3 of those were grocery shopping.

Aww, that sounds so cute! I cannot WAIT for the cooing and smiling. Big Smile

I had this same issue.  Everyone's idea of "helping" was holding my son.  I didn't want them holding him and I didn't want to share him.  I wanted help with dishes, laundry, and feeding/letting my dogs out not help with taking care of my child.  So really they were just pretending to want to help so they could steal some QT with my son.

  • Hi ladies! I'm hopping in!

Challenges: Still having issues with BF.  Sometimes she'll scream bloody murder, sometimes she'll be fussy, and sometimes it works like a charm. Try again, we will.

Milestones: She's starting to be awake more!  I don't know what to do with that time though. I carry her around and try to talk to her, plus I try to take our walk when she's awake, but what else can I do?  I think it's too early for tummy time, right?  I feel like I should be expanding her mind more or something.

Funny: I don't have one. She's more just cute and cuddly at this point!

GTKY: So far I've only taken one short afternoon of mom time, and I used it to drive out to Babies R Us to pick up some stuff we needed.  Ha!  This weekend I'm planning on getting a pedicure. ??

Hi ladies! You can see my post below for the challenge this week. DS has just been super fussy and only wanting me. Makes DH sad but hopefully it will pass. GTKY: my me time is going to the gym. I've already lost all my pregnancy weight, I just need to tone things up. My sister is getting married next April and I'm determined to look great.

You're awesome! Keep up the good work, mama!

Good morning, gals! All mamas of babies one and under are welcome to check-in, anytime!

Any challenges this week? Challenges this week have been daytime naps. She used to take a couple 2-4 hour naps during the day but now she seems to only want to take 20 minute naps at a time unless someone is holding her.

Milestones? Whereas she may not be napping during the day the trade off has been that she sleeps great at night. She goes to bed around Midnight and wakes at 4am then wakes again between 7 and 8 then again between 9:30 and 11.

Funny stories? I accidentally squeezed the poop out of her today. I picked her up and squeezed her belly a little as I did so and she pooped really loud and then looked at me like "WTH just happened?"

GTKY: How do you spend your "me" time (if you're lucky enough to get a little)? Umm right now I'm not getting much me time but when I do I like to read or do logic puzzles.

We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Hi! Nothing too crazy going on here. G has started sleeping in her swing for a decent stretch at night, but once she gets up to nurse, I just bring her to bed. She also took her first [5 minute] nap in her crib today. I've been letting her hang out in it so that she can get used to it. I'm only hesitant to start her in her crib full time because she shares her room with SD. Problem is, SD is only with us EOweekend, and I don't want to disturb either of their sleep.

I love, love, LOVE the coos and smiles and conversations I have with G!

DH and I went out a couple weeks ago. Just dinner, and a beer at a local brewery. I like to sew, but it's tough to accomplish much with a LO on my boob what seems like most of the day :] Not a lot of me time at the moment...it's ok though, this infant stage is over so quickly...

  • Hi ladies.  I am not on much these days.  I kind of forget to check this while I'm at work.  I have been pretty busy.

Challenges for the week would be try not to get too frustrated and annoyed with DH.  We both are on edge and just have a lot of pent up frustration.  Having a baby has definitely thrown a wrench into our normally very lax life.  We're working on trying to figure this out without going off on each other.

Lex is smiling a ton and trying to copy us sometimes.  She coos a lot and it's just so adorable!  Sometimes she lets out a laugh but not sure if it's really a laugh or just a random noise.

So far I have had two "me" times.  They were both to run 5Ks.  I have had no other me time and it's taking a toll.  DH feels the same way.  He has only had one day of "me" time.  We need a little break and we need it soon.

  • My first time checking in! *waves*

Well, we've been super lucky to have MIL stay with us for 10 days (she's going home tomorrow), so things have been not too bad. But a challenge has been her sleeping at bedtime. I guess it's normal, but she was a bit easier the first week home, then got a bit more fussy. Trying to figure out how to make it easier, so hopefully we figure it out!

No milestones yet and funny stories... I guess it's funny she's peed for DH a LOT. Like diaper is getting changed and she pees on her outfit. Still hasn't peed on him yet I think, but I think it's funny. :P

GTKY: I guess my "me" time is showering. DH will be home with me for awhile longer, so I'm pretty spoiled. As long as he can watch her I hop in the shower. It's awesome to be able to do that.

  • Hi ladies, and congrats to the new checker-in-ers!

Challenges/milestones/stories: DS has been super. He is now the "easy" child since DD is having some issues. He slept 8:30 - 4 last night. Napping has been hit or miss the last couple of days, but aside from some minor fussing he has been fine. So, really an uneventful check-in for us!

He has shown absolutely no signs of rolling over, but I'm putting that down to him being a big guy. It will take a lot to roll that chunky little body over!

GTKY: Sigh..."me" time. Like PPs, my "me" time is spent showering. Oh, and I think I've been to the grocery store alone once. As a very introverted person, I am feeling the lack of alone time. People, even very small ones, make me tired.

But, on the other hand, I look at my offspring and I am so thankful they are here and healthy while many others are not so fortunate. I can wait a little longer for alone time.
