What times of day do you give WCM?

I'm a little late starting WCM (I wanted to wait until after the pedi appt and we had a late one).  Anyway, she said he only needs about 12 oz. of milk a day.  I'm going to have to elminate a bottle I guess.  When do you all give milk?  I have been giving him a bottle when he first wakes up, after lunch (for nap), and before bed.  I guess I will get rid of the early morning one and start giving him water?

  • Meh, G still gets four bottles a day and we just finished transitioning to whole milk totally. I am going to try dropping one soon but I don't know which one.

    I guess I'm no help.

  • LBB still nurses while at home, but at daycare he gets milk at lunch (11:30) and snack (2:30).  Right now he's still on breastmilk, but tomorrow will be the last of my freezer stash, so he'll be getting WCM at those times.

  • His Pedi said a total of 16 oz a day for him, I give it before naps and bedtime.  The Pedi mentioned to give him what we are drinking, so we give him 1% Milk Fat.
  • 12 oz doesn't seem like much.  Our pedi said more like 16-20 oz per day but honestly I don't think she gets that much right now.  We got rid of the bottle and are doing sippy cups and I think you'll find it easier to limit the liquid with them.  My DD won't drink 6 oz at one time from a sippy like she can from a bottle.  We give milk with breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner and before bed.  I am offering a lot right now because I want her to have enough since she doesn't get bottles anymore.  I also offer water throughout the day as well.

  • DD gets a sippy of milk with breakfast and one at lunch. She still gets one bottle at 4pm (I have like 3 days of formula left and then it will be a sippy of milk). She is drinking 6-7 ounces at a time. She gets water with morning snack, dinner, and bedtime.

This plus Nora nurses first thing in the morning and one time in the afternoon.  She probably gets a total of 10-12 oz of actual WCM, approximately 8-10 oz of breastmilk (a guess), and a couple of ounces of water.  I would like to drop nursing completely, but I have a stubborn baby.  Plus, it is cold/flu season and it ensures she gets enough milk in a day.

If you aren't doing WCM just be sure he's getting enough healthy fats. It's essential to their brain development. We give her as much as she wants. She usually nurses in the am and 2 to 3 other times per day and she gets her "milk" in a sippie with lunch snack and dinner so like 15 oz at least plus nursing. Unless they're drinking a ton before a meal and not eating solids I wouldn't worry about giving too much. We occasionally offer water but I never give her juice

Yeah, my pedi said to limit to 12 oz so that he won't get full on milk and will still eat food.  So far, we haven't had any problems with his appetite!

  • We offer 4 bottles per day...

    One 4oz in the morning

Two 5oz bottles at daycare (she doesn't always drink them all)

    One 4oz before bed

She is mildly anemic so the Dr said no more than 16oz per day. She gets 16-18.

  • I give 4 oz of WCM for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The rest of the day she gets water.  She gets plenty of dairy through cheese and yogurt and my Pediatrician said to shoot between 16 and 24 oz of dairy a day.

  • I think I have a piglet!

He probably gets about 6-8oz in the morning.

He gets a 6 oz bottle for naptime but usually only takes about half of that.

For bedtime he will go through 8-10 oz.. sometimes 12.

    Ha! Mines a pig too.

7 oz in the morning, 7-8 oz before nap and 7-8 oz at bed

  • Our pedi told us 15-20oz WCM per day, so we are giving DD 3 6oz bottles per day.  She gets one in the morning, one around lunch or after nap, and one before bed.

  • We were told to aim for 16 oz a day but no more than 24 oz because it can effect the absorption of vitamins and nutrients.
On my days off she only gets about 2 to 4 oz of WCM since she still nurses 4 times during the day. We offer it in a sippy during meals and she gets water during the day.
On the days I work she nurses in the morning, will be getting a sippy cup of WCM with meals and snacks, and gets a bottle or sippy cup of BM before bed. My body is no longer responding to the pump and our freezer stash just ran out so tomorrow will be the first day she doesn't get BM during the day.
  • E gets about 15 oz per day. 5 first thing in the morning (it's our snuggle time), 5 in a sippy throughout the day - usually with her afternoon snack, and 5 at bedtime.

  • Layla gets about 18oz/day. 6 each at mealtimes. She also nurses first thing in the morning. Sometimes she gets more, especially if she sees the sippy cup or milk jug. She gets all excited and starts wiggling when she sees them.

    Our pedi said 1822oz
