Am I putting the diaper on wrong?

Three times now in the last day we've had leaks out the back of the diaper. Noble is breastmilk only, so he's not having huge poops or super smelly poops, but they do get everywhere sometimes.

Am I not making the diaper pulls tight enough? If I pull it super tight, will it hurt him? He seems to hate wearing a diaper as it is.

I'm using NB size huggies. He's still 7 pounds 10 ounces or so. I tried the 7th generation free and clear in NB but he leaked in those also. Not sure what to do. WE've been through four outfits so far today! yikes.

When Harper was that size, the tabs had to be almost touching in the front. Also, huggies sseem to be a little larger. We preferred Pampers at that weight but had some huggies left over and they seem to be a good transition into size one as they are a little bigger.

Pull it tighter, and check the fit on his back before getting him dressed. If you can easily slide a finger into the diaper, it's too loose.

You might want to try a different brand. Sometimes different brands fit different kids better. I had a problem with Huggies leaking with DS.

It's always poop leaking? If it's pee you might want to try size 1s. We had to move up early because ds was leaking pee every diaper.

This. We had to go to size 1's when DS was only 7 lbs and 1 week old.

My LO is about 8 1/2lbs and this was happening to us a LOT with the NB sized huggies. We tried NB sized from target and did not have an issue. We are now using the size 1 pampers and haven't had an issue either. I really think its the huggies. If only I could bill them for all the laundry now.

I have had excellent luck with Pampers Swaddlers in the NB size. Huggies leaked, and Huggies wipes caused him to get a diaper rash.

The Pampers haven't leaked at all, and since I switched to the hypoallergenic Costco wipes, no signs of rash either.

Try Pampers, and you probably need to pull the tabs tighter too. Huggies are contoured, and they seem to fit some babies better and others not at all. I loved Huggies with DS1 but hate them for DS2. I never leave more than about an inch between the tabs, and if I can't get them that close, either I don't have the diaper positioned right, or it's time to move up a size.

I survived! Although, despite my best effort they managed to spend the night for most of the trip. So I wasn't that happy about that. And I wasn't happy about MIL and SIL going through my cabinets and telling me I didn't have enough food or the food they like to cook with... (then go BUY some food! how 'bout that?)

so my cupboards are now bare but with their departure in came my milk so finally i can feed my baby. they gave him formula while i was in the shower, so i wasn't able to rest or anything with them here. I think the stress slowed the milk down.

Anyhoo... it was stressful but at least now DH knows it wasn't the greatest idea. if we have kid #2 i doubt this will happen again.And for the first time in two weeks i've spent time ALONE with Noble. It's heaven! (even though his diapers leak...)

DD2 wears Huggies little snugglers sz1, she is currently 7lbs4oz & we just pull the tabs so the rounded ends slightly overlap each other, we haven't had a single leak yet.
