February 2013 Moms

Broke a sweat putting my boots on

Oh Lord, the belly is getting big! I had the hardest time getting my boots on this morning. They are the kind without zippers that you just have to tug on and wow, by the time I got them on I was sweating. It's ridiculous how hard it's become to bend over to accomplish any task- cleaning the floor, picking things up. Anyone else realizing the awkwardness of this big belly?

Re: Broke a sweat putting my boots on

  • I keep running into things with my belly, because I forget that it is growing.

I bought a new pair of shoes, and got the Sketchers slip on kind.  I figure they will be very handy come February!

  • For my first my bump didn't even start showing up until after 6 months, then it got pretty big in the end. Right now my bump is nearly as big as it was at the end!! Oh MY!! Bending over to pull on my shoes, not even worth it, I can't pick up much, And some of my other maternity shirts don't even fit!

  • Last night I realized that it is hard to get straight up off of the floor when I'm sitting down with DS.

  • My boots don't have zippers either.  I can get them on decently, but I can not reach down very well to pull them back off.  I keep having to get DH to help me.

Getting straight up off the floor is not possible for me...and hasn't been for about 3 or 4 weeks!  LOL  I have to roll to all fours, and then push myself up.  It's so lady-like.  ;-)

  • I've been running into things with my belly too! Sometimes chairs, counters or even people... OOPS!

Have been putting off unlacing and taking off my shoes since my belly gets in the way of my reach. Also trying  to put my undies on has been dreadful! Just think it won't be getting easier any time soon!

So far I have only run into DH, thank goodness.

I got really aggrivated towards the end of my pregnancy with DD.  People would try to squeeze by me, or not move when they were in my way.  I mean, its not like I could suck it in, it isn't fat!

  • I tried to put my foot up on a shelf (work at a school) today to tie my shoe and about died.  Somehow I got them on sitting on the couch at home this morning, but standing up to tie it was ridiculous and will never be tried again!

  • My shoes are constantly untied for the same reason. It is too much of an effort to fix them, so I just tuck them in and slip my sneakers on. Socks are the hardest for me, especially since I have a bum right hip and can't bend my leg up as far on that side. Getting out of bed in the morning (and throughout the night to pee) has also been interesting.

  • I can relate! Getting up off the floor, bending over to pick anything up, or heaven forbid I try to put lotion on my feet. I am definitely not used to this. But it is kind of a good problem to have... We'll all soon be holding tiny little people in our arms :]

  • Same here.  I'm a couple weeks behind you, but I've noticed it's harder to get my shoes on.  I have to sit down and get out of breath when I'm doing it.  :)

Also, like pp mentioned, I forget how big my belly is and bump into things.  The bathroom stall door is the biggest one...I don't give myself enough room to shut it and it'll graze my belly.  Ha!

  • Oh yes!!  I'm stupid enough to still try to wear tights and my husband laughs hysterically at my efforts. Definitely feel your pain
