Hi Ladies, I am looking for some tips on where to buy maternity clothes here in the Valley of the Sun. I am looking for cost effective of course, but need career clothes and fun clothes so I know I may have to pay the price. I am open to consignment or new. Thanks for the ideas!
Re: where to buy Maternity Clothes
I found Ross to be a good place to get inexpensive maternity tops. Their pants selection is not great most of the time. It might be better now that it is coming up on fall.
It costs a bit more, but there is a Motherhood maternity outlet store in the Arizona Mills Mall. I found my bathing suit and a really nice pair of capris there. I know some Old Navy stores have a maternity section, but I am no help as to which ones in the valley have them. I found my Old Navy stuff when I went on vacaction in anther state. Target also has a few cute things, but I always was hoping they would go on sale, but they rarely do. I think they know that if you need them, you need them, and you will pay. I have seen some really cute tops and really nice maternity dresses there.
Also, you may want to check out Burlington Coat Factory, also in the Arizona Mills Mall. I found a maternity dress there for $9.99 and it has been my all time favorite thing to wear throughout this pregnancy. You have to sort through a bunch of stuff to find the good stuff, but there is some good stuff if you have the patience for it. Good Luck!
I had good luck on Craigslist for tops & casual wear; picked up a huge box for about $50 total. Career clothes were a lot more challenging so I did buy some new slacks and collared shirts from Motherhood Maternity.
Also, ask around your office, church, etc and see if anyone might loan you clothes. I lucked out and my coworker gave me a big bag of his wife's stuff from when she was a realtor, which was great. I wore them throughout my pregnancy and returned them after I gave birth. Figured this would be way cheaper than buying them all myself, and there's no guarantee you'll be the same size during future pregnancies.
Definitely check out the 2nd hand stores. Other Mothers is another decent one if you're in the north-ish part of the valley.
