Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Moms of 10+ month olds, please come in.

Can you tell me a little bit about your DC's naps?  How many?  How long are they?, etc.

I know all babies are different, but I'm just curious as to what could happen over the next few months.  My daughter is 15, so I've forgotten a lot of this stuff.  Also, I WAH on Mondays, and when he naps is when I get work done.  So, just wondering how long I may have the 2 hour naps for.  ;)

Thanks!

  • I'm scared to answer this, because I don't want to jinx myself, but here goes.  Maddie used to take two 30-45 minute naps a day.  Lately at least one of her naps is usually longer.  Sometimes I actually get 2 hours at a time from her. She's sort of a reformed catnapper (knock wood).  I don't know if that helps.

  • We'll ds is just over 1 yr. but he has had the same schedule for the last few months. ?He is up between 5 and 6 .... ? first nap at 9am for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs and next nap at 2:30 for the same length.
  • Will usually takes two naps a day. ?Lately they have gotten longer, even up to two hours sometimes. ?

  • My older DS took 2 months until about 16-17 months, which I think is pretty late.  With DS #2, he has the first nap around 9am (45 min) and the second around 12:30ish (1.5-2.5+ hours).  After DS #1 dropped the first nap the second nap actually got longer.  He still sleeps about 3 hours a day for that one at over 2.5 yo.
  • I'm about the same as everyone else.  Morning nap is usually 1 1/2 hours, afternoon nap is 2-3 hours.

Did you see my post to you?  It might have fallen off the first page.
  • it varies.  sometimes he takes 1 2 hour nap, sometimes he takes 2 shorter naps.  i never know what i'm going to get.
  • 9 months was the beginning of nap upheaval in our house. ?Had been taking a morning and afternoon nap with the morning nap being 2-3 hours after he woke up, lasting an hour, and the afternoon nap 4 hours after he woke up, lasting 1 - 1.5 hours. ?Well first he started to refuse to nap for me at all. ?Then by 10 months he was going back on forth on dropping to one nap. ?He's a year and a couple weeks and we've found if he's not tired enough to sleep within the first 3 hours that we have to fight to keep him up until after lunch. ?If he falls asleep before noon, it's only 1 nap and it's only an hour. ?If he falls asleep after lunch then it's usually 2 hours. ?We have some days where he takes his morning nap and then won't take his 2nd nap until around 4 and twice he's ended up just sleeping the entire night. ?Yesterday he fell asleep at 3:30 and was still asleep after 5 (normally goes to bed around 6:30-7) so I actually had to wake him up. ?I was petrified of what time he's wake in the morning if he slept all the way from 3:30 in the afternoon.
  • We are just starting to transition to one nap. ?If she goes down in the morning, she is a bear to get down in the afternoon and then will sleep for 20 minutes. ?So far this week, so good. ?She's been going down a little earlier at night, but is still happy and actually falls asleep pretty easily for her nap.
  • DD takes between 2 and 3 naps a day.  The first nap is usually an hour long and the second about 1 1/2 to 2 hours long.  If we're out and about with DD in her stroller, she'll normally take another quick nap around 4:30 or 5.
  • my ds naps 2 naps a day from a 1/2 hour to 2 hours. He's a little unpredictable.
