s/o teeth

I always see people say things like lo is working on two teeth on the bottom/top. My question is how can you tell? I can never tell where G's getting teeth until they actually come through the gum. What signs am I looking for?

 

It seems like she's been teething for a month now and so far nothing has come through.  Do I have the only kid who clamps her mouth shut when I try to look?

    This. A's gums are so swollen by all of his first molars. One finally popped through a few days ago. He will let me feel his gums sometimes but I risk getting bitten!

    I try feeling them but I just can' t tell. As soon as my finger goes in she clamps down and laughs. Little punk.

    I usually do not know until they are through, and i have no clue if he has molars coming in, because it is pure torture for me to look.. crazy kids!!

    DD never showed signs of teething until that day. She would be crabby, in pain, snotty, then poof, a tooth.

    K is the opposite. His gums are red and inflamed, bites on everything, for weeks.

    I can usually see the teeth through the gum and feel them as well.

    Normall swollen gums.  I have held DH hold C upside down and I shine a flashlight in his mouth so I can see what is going on.  He doesn't let me see inside otherwise.

    I can usually tell just because she'll cry off and on and shove her hands in her mouth, or wake up crying in the night.  I have come to recognize the cry and when I hear it I know she won't go back to sleep until the Tylenol or ibuprofen kicks in.  It's different than her "I just don't want to sleep" cry.

    Halle starts drooling, stops sleeping, and gets swollen gums.  When I want to check on her teeth I hang her upside down off my lap and tickle her.  It works every time.
