Off topic poll/question

What is your favorite lullabye?

My mother used to sing me this song called "God Made You", I still remember her singing it to me before bed every night.  It's followed all of my cousins and siblings.  It goes like this:

Who are you?  I'm special.  Who are you? I'm me. Who made you, so special? God made me.  I can do all sorts of things, that are really quite unique.  Tell me please can you play hide and seek.  Who are you?  I'm special.  Who are you?  I'm me.  Who made you, so special?  God made me.

It meant the world to me and I hope it will to our baby as well.

  • I can't remember what my mom sang to me...probably because she can't sing worth a darn.  My MIL said she used to sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" to my DH.  They danced to that song at our wedding for the Mother/Son dance.  I thought that was really sweet.

  • I dont remember any of the lullabies. I know my mom and I used to sing "you are my sunshine", but that was when I was much older..

    Currently I am in search of a spanish lullaby.. That way I can incorporate DH's native language and he can sing it too.

  • My favorite is "You are my sunshine".  My mom used to sing it to me when I was little and I used to sing it back to them when I could talk!  I am now already singing it to my little guy so that he recognizes it when he's here!

  • Not sure if they are considered lullabies, but the two I loved singing to the girls I used to nanny were "Baby Mine" from Dumbo and "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" from Cinderella.
  • My mom use say:

    Now I lay me down to sleep,
    I pray the Lord my soul to keep;
    And I die before I wake,
    I pray the Lord my soul to take.

    My dad made up one. Short and sweet!:

    Oh my Katie, she's my pretty baby, how I love my pretty Katie girl.

  • My mom sang You Are My Sunshine, Daydream Believer, and lots of hymns.
  • That's really cute... My favorite lullabye was "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" (I thought it was a song about cherries) and my sister's was a toss-up between "Angels We Have Heard on High" (because of the Gloria part) and "Go Tell it On the Mountain."
  • I don't remember any lullabies, but my mom and I used to sing Animal Crackers In My Soup by Anne Murray and I used to stand on her feet to dance to the song Music Box Dancer (I LOVE that song still) and we used to sing/hum the notes in funny ways while dancing.  I hope to find one for baby!
