I'm thinking about buying a potty chair. Not because I think G can be "trained" yet, but we *always* know when he is pooping, so I almost think it makes sense to get a potty chair and sit him on it when he is. I know daycare can't be expected to do this so it would just be up to us to read the signs and get him on the potty at home, so maybe it would be confusing? I really don't intend to start "real" potty training until at least two years.
My Mom says I was potty trained at 11 months, but my Grandma says everyone around me was just trained to sit me on the potty regularly. I guess this would sort of be the same thing?
Re: Am I crazy?
We've been sitting E on the potty since she was about 4-5 months old. We didn't do "infant toiled training" -- it wasn't at all intense or forced. I simply sat her on the toilet (the normal toilet, not an infant potty) at times when I knew she was likely to poop or when I saw her grunting. It worked very well for us until she learned to crawl and walk. Now she hates the potty because she doesn't like to be held still. I'm letting her take a break, but I hope to get back to it soon.
I'm piggybacking off of this, because we did the same with Nora. She would potty on the chair multiple times a day before she was too mobile, but it was all about timing on my part (not her knowing when to potty). She could care less about sitting there right now. I'm thinking about trying here in a couple of months, because she says "poop, mommy" as she is pushing it out.
