Rolling my eyes

So when we visited my in-laws last time they had been given a crib. They borrowed a mattress for it. When we got ready to leave they had gotten the mattress out to return and I noticed something odd about the crib. They had zip-tied part of the crib together. Yeah.... So I told DH that when we visit over Thanksgiving she wouldn't sleep in a crib that was rigged up like that. We could just bring the PNP even though she sleeps horribly in it. He was talking to his mom earlier he mentioned that we would have to do something different because I had noticed it and she acted put out by it. Said the crib was old and didn't think she could find replacement parts for it. I feel kinda bushy about it, and feel like MIL was annoyed, but my kid isn't going to sleep in an unsafe crib.

    Wait, did YH know about the zip-ties beforehand?  The way you worded it, it kind of sounds like it, and I would be way more pissed at him.

    Um, bfuck no my baby would not sleep in a zip tied crib. I'm flabbergasted that there is even a question of it. I wouldn't sleep in a bed without all its parts as an adult.

    Your MIL needs to put down the fancy smoking glass if she thinks f ucking ZIP TIES holding the baby's crib together are acceptable. For realz.

    Yeah. He got an earful from me. He drives me crazy when it comes to his parents. He said he told his dad that he didn't think it was a good idea and his all knowing (sarcasm) dad said it would be fine. Believe me, I was pissed. So now, DH told them it would have to be fixed, MIL doesn't want to buy a decent crib (which is ok by me), we will just bring the PNP. I just get annoyed that I have to be the voice of reason all of the time with anything involving DH and his parents.

    This! I'd be more pissed at your DH than your ILs at this point. Holy cow, I'd KILL my DH!!!

    I am really upset with him. There were threats of castration and divorce. We had a huge blow out fight about it actually. I was just annoyed tonight that his mom acts mad about me being upset. And now I'm mad all over again.

    So I'm reading this with what I guess is a look of total horror on my face and DH asks me what's up. I tell him, "One of the girls on my board's MIL is mad at her because she won't let their baby sleep in a crib that has been repaired with zip ties." He just stared at me and we both cracked up. I actually laughed so hard I teared up a little. When you put it like that you MIL is a complete nutcase. You are 100% right and I'm sorry your DH didn't put his foot down immediately!

    That crib is an absolute no. What is it with grandparents that make them lose the ability to use good judgement in regards to baby safety.

    I'd let DH handle this one and have him be firm with his "no".

     But the zip tie thing is just nuts. Ugh like pp said, what is it with some of these grandparents not worried about safety?

    I was telling my mom about it this morning and she didn't see the big deal. It's frustrating that people want to ignore safety regulations.
