So when we visited my in-laws last time they had been given a crib. They borrowed a mattress for it. When we got ready to leave they had gotten the mattress out to return and I noticed something odd about the crib. They had zip-tied part of the crib together. Yeah.... So I told DH that when we visit over Thanksgiving she wouldn't sleep in a crib that was rigged up like that. We could just bring the PNP even though she sleeps horribly in it. He was talking to his mom earlier he mentioned that we would have to do something different because I had noticed it and she acted put out by it. Said the crib was old and didn't think she could find replacement parts for it. I feel kinda bushy about it, and feel like MIL was annoyed, but my kid isn't going to sleep in an unsafe crib.
Re: Rolling my eyes
Um, bfuck no my baby would not sleep in a zip tied crib. I'm flabbergasted that there is even a question of it. I wouldn't sleep in a bed without all its parts as an adult.
That was sarcasm.
Your MIL needs to put down the fancy smoking glass if she thinks f ucking ZIP TIES holding the baby's crib together are acceptable. For realz.

Um, DH would no longer have nuts for knowing about that and still allowing our daughter to sleep in that crib.
This! I'd be more pissed at your DH than your ILs at this point. Holy cow, I'd KILL my DH!!!
lol. I love you Nita.
That crib is an absolute no. What is it with grandparents that make them lose the ability to use good judgement in regards to baby safety.
I'd let DH handle this one and have him be firm with his "no".

That is crazy! Sorry you are dealing with this morsey, both with your ILs and with your H. My MIL didn't see anything wrong with her dropside crib and I had to put my foot down and insist that DD would not be sleeping that crib and we would just use our PnP or we would not be coming to visit.
But the zip tie thing is just nuts. Ugh like pp said, what is it with some of these grandparents not worried about safety?
I was telling my mom about it this morning and she didn't see the big deal. It's frustrating that people want to ignore safety regulations.
I'm mean if this is safe, what is wrong with zip ties?
