Abdominal Migraines

Does anyone have a child affected by this condition or have you even heard of it. DD has had several episodes of severe vomitting (projectile) and stays very sick for about 24 hours. She was hospitalized for these conditions, and in the past month she has had 5 "episodes". After many dr's visits and trips to specialists they are leaning towards diagnosing her with abdominal migraines. If anybody else has had experience with these please give me some advice and info! TIA

    I struggled with migraines for awhile and FINALLY found out that I am gluten sensitive. They tested me for everything and even did a CAT scan, blood work, everything!! I was miserable. Finally a co-worker mentioned that I should try a gluten free diet. I mentioned this to the doctor and they were on board with it. I'm now gluten free & headache/migraine free. I know it's difficult to deal with and doctors don't always have the right answers. GL!!

    I am a NP and I have a patient with cyclic vomiting syndrome which is sometimes called abdominal migraines. I sent her to a cyclic vomiting specialist which I would definitely recommend if that is what they diagnose. Even regular GI doctors don't know a lot about this syndrome. My patient also had post traumatic stress disorder and her symptoms were made worse by her anxiety. Anxiety meds did help her a little.

    Thanks for the info, she was tested for food allergies and was all clear on that.

    @ Dermy, The GI she is seeing had abdominal migraines as a child, so he was really great in explaining a lot of it to me. Its just really frustrating that I dont know how to help her or what to tell people when they ask what is wrong with her.

    My brother was diagnosed woith this at 5 in his case it was the wrong diagnosis in reality at 16 it was found he had a kidney issue.
