I tried making this a poll, but TB is still being glitchy.
This is a WWYD post.
We have a lot of tourists here in Hawaii, and a large percentage of them are from other countries. The vast majority are great. And then there are those who think it's okay to mob around fair-haired, blue-eyed children (like DS) and take pictures. This has happened to some of my other friends and their kids, too. These tourists aren't creepy people. The group that mobbed us today was a group of twenty-something year old women who thought DS was really cute.
I can't disagree with their observation that DS is the cutest baby ever
, but it makes me somewhat uncomfortable because I don't know where those pics end up. DS loves the attention, which just encourages them to keep snapping..
If you've had this happen, how did you handle it?
I never thought I'd allow it, and then it happened and I froze.
Re: Sorry I'm being a PW...one last one
This happened to us in San Francisco. A group of Asian ladies kept commenting on how cute DS1 is, and let us know that they loved his hair.
DH was holding him at the time. One of them asked if she could hold him as her friends took pictures of the two of them. DH just said, "Uhhhhh... NO?"
He turned and walked away. It's very awkward, but I would never allow it.
They don't even ask. They usually already have their cell phones/cameras out, so in about two seconds, there are a bunch of people around us taking pictures.
We were out at another tourist spot today (entertaining visitors this week), and I was ready to just plow through any camera-happy tourists with the stroller if they attempted to take photos. Didn't happen.
For some reason, I feel like I asked this question a couple of months ago, but can't find it. Sorry if I'm being repetitive. Clearly I just need to grow a backbone.
It's happened to me once or twice, too. And I also froze. I just cross my fingers it doesn't happen again.
Sorry I don't have any advice.
