Ob versus midwife breech delivery questions (RP from 3rd tri)

I'm still early at 32 weeks pregnant and baby has time to still flip, but because she has been breech this entire pregnancy so far, I asked both my Ob and midwife if they deliver breech babies.

Midwife said yes in an otherwise low risk pregnancy, and outlined the extra measures they follow to keep mother and baby safe. Ob said absolutely not that it is way too risky.

Anyone else have completely differing opinions on this topic from separate care providers?

*ETA- Midwife would be homebirthing. We still haven't decided what we're doing yet.

Most OBs say no because they aren't trained in it. My MWs will deliver breech because they have a lot of experience in it.

I honestly wouldn't want an OB delivering my breech baby if he had never done it before.

What PP said very few OBs are trained to do it anymore, although the "trend" of natural birthing ( I call it a trend because it is making a comeback) is leading to them recieving training. The majority if not all midwives are trained to do so but some do not/will not because the dr they work under won't.

That beng said I personally have never heard of a breech homebirth nor would I want to risk/try one. I have done my research on it and for me it seems to risky of a situation to not be in a hospital.

ETA: I've heard that spinning babies works also you might contact a local chiropractor I've heard wonderful stories about the also beng able to get the baby to turn

This website (below) has lots of info on breech homebirths. In doing research for myself I have also discovered that Canada is now pushing for more vaginal breech births if the baby is in the correct breech position. My local midwife will do breech births IF you have had a previous vaginal delivery, I know for a fact the hospitals around here do not "allow" breech births, but they also don't allow VBAC's and I'm having one in March. They can't make you have surgery. If your OB has no previous experience I would go with the midwife if you decide for breech birth.

Ah, okay, I see, they're not with the same practice. I answered this over on 3rd tri. I thought maybe these were two providers within the same practice and found it odd. I'm not at all surprised that an OB would tell you it's an automatic C/S and a MW would say vaginal birth is safe. As a PP said, many OBs just aren't trained to handled breech births anymore and rather go straight to C/S. Whereas MWs are trained to handle them. I would totally go for the vaginal delivery with a trained provider.

Yes, to clarify, it is two separate providers. My doula from DS's pregnancy was training to be a midwife at the time and had been for several years. I think we were one of her last doula clients on the side. She is now a trained, certified midwife and has been trained in breech births. Ob is with the hospital system.

I'm kind of in an odd place (but good!) because when we asked the now-midwife to doula for us again she told us she had become a midwife and asked if we wanted her services for a home birth instead as another option, while we were already seeing an Ob. We couldn't afford the home birth midwife cost (as compared to insurance covering the hospital 100% with the Ob), so the midwife (who is also my friend) told me she would come on as a doula for us again and if I just happened to want to stay home, that she wouldn't raise her rate because she wants me to have the birth I want, not worrying about the costs involved.

So, we haven't decided yet.

But, baby is in the frank breech position and I've already had a vaginal delivery, and I've heard that is the safest situation for a vaginal breech delivery.

I figured you guys had some information as you are all up on the natural know-how

The midwife recommended the ironing board as noted on spinning babies. I haven't tried that yet, but will probably tomorrow while DH is home and can occupy DS and/or help me get back up

If I already had one uncomplicated vaginal birth and my 2nd was frank breech, there is not a chance I would consider a c-section. I responded by accident to your post on third tri with my reasons.
